There's more tracks of similar nature to come on a future label that is in its humble makings. Retro ambient recording experiment

Hi I'm new here, but not new to sound recording and broadcast techniques (although a bit antiquated)
I'm trying to record decent quality sound onto casette tape using a 1972 Sony field recorder.
My problem is that I have acquired an Audio Technica shotgun mic. that has produces an uanccecptably high level of noise (the deck records fine with the built in mic but this cannot be used for ambient). I have been in touch with Audio Technica and they confirmed my theory that there's an impedance mismatch between the deck and the mic.

The deck's input impedance is 300 Ohms whereas the output from the microphone is between 10,000 and 15,000 ohms. Audio Technica have advised me that an inline converter would be capable of solving the problem, but I'd have to reverse the flow as these are designed to match a low imp. to a high imp. This is not a problem, but finding a converter has been more difficult than I imagined. Shure appears to be the only company that has produced such an impedance matcher.

My question is does anyone know of a supplier that has a stock of inline converters, or does anyone have a circuit diagram so i could build my own?

Finally, does anyone think this experiment into retro technology is worth the effort?

Looking forward to any ideas you may have.

Kickstarter campaign

I just started a Kickstarter campaign for future recordings of my experimental ambient music. I'm really not expecting to reach my goal, but figured may as well put this out here and give it a go. I want to expand my current sound with access to a DAW (need a new laptop) and maybe a new synth. I'm a public school teacher and caretaker to my wife who has brain cancer, so as you might be able to guess, my funds are extremely limited.

Interface last episode

So new year is above us already, and in midtime the very last episode of Interface has apperaed. I had in mind to post it here, but had much work then, so here is it now.

In case You don't know what Interface is, imagine an animated serie wich looks like drew in microsoft paint, has lo fi synth ambients in background and total surreal plot with thousands of philosophical thoughts in it. Mix it all and You have u m a m i channel, wich post shits like this all the time. The Interface is series they made. It is pretty good, but it may be hard to survive some first episodes. Drawing style here was especially primitive. But music and dialogues can fully reward it.

Hi guys, it has been a while, I was a bit out for a long time because of work. I'm finally back, and I see there is a lot of new faces in the forum. Hi You all.

While I'm back I think I'm somehow doubt to post some cool things I digged out from web meanwhile.

Soundtrack to surreal PS1 exploration game called "LSD Dream Emulator" contains almost 500 tracks, wich where randomly mixed for each stage. Hi, I'm Martin. I started my musical career at the age of 16 playing percussion and annoying my neighbors in a big apartment house. Never could keep a tempo but I guess it helped me bashing some loud things.

At around 22 I started working as editor for computer magazines. Back then I tried one of these tracker programms on my Amiga and built some kind of percussive dissonant track. After that I was convinced I had no musical talent whatsoever and pursued my career as editor, author and later as video producer.

Fast forward 30 years - I still produce videos and teach video production - I found some interest in electronic music. Getting VCV rack sent me down the famous rabbit hole. I started to create some noisy drone stuff with VCV rack and also startet to buy some hardware synths. Also I became interested in music theory and discovered a whole new world. Sometimes I use some bits of my music for customer videos ;)

In the last few months I became a bit frustrated about my hardware and started digging into software synths - and another world opened.

Bass guitar live concert

Here's my recent contribution to Nick Mellis' Virtual Garage Concert Series. I played one hour concert with my bass guitar +effects spiced up with some field recording samples and vocals (!) on one track. The sound and video quality is quite high, so I advice to use headphones to hear the details. It was a pleasure to play this music live, as it is always. I hope you enjoy!
