I recently released a collaborative album between myself and an artist from Buffalo, NY named Westward Journey. We've crossed paths in the local music scene and finally got together to do an ambient jam, and it went really well! So well that I decided to chop up what we recorded and arrange it into an acceptable listening length. The product of this work is Bloom!

It is very live, in that you can hear us fumbling about, clicking loop pedals, hitting some wrong notes here or there, and talking from time to time. The essence of the music is really magical in my opinion, hence why I set out to release this.

We've played two live shows, my first ever performing ambient music, and it has inspired me to perform solo as Luminous Shade, so wish me luck!

It's with a sad and heavy heart that I am announcing the end of the Ambient Online Compilation series. The soon to be released compilation (Volume 26) will be the final entry in the entire catalog. I want to first of all thank you for your participation and enthusiasm for the series. Some of you have been a part of the compilations since they began way back in 2013! There are 37 total entries (39 if you count the two-part releases) which to my knowledge is the largest community compilation series of it's kind in any genre.

Ending the Compilation was not a decision that I made lightly. As many of you know, Epic Games purchased Bandcamp back in 2022 and at first, there was little sign of any significant changes. However, as the months went buy, we started to see more evidence that the bandcamp we once knew was no longer. Part of this change was a huge overhaul of the terms and conditions in which the service operates, which includes legal implications regarding music and how it's distributed. Needless to say, with a compilation series as large as ours, we fall directly into the "high risk" category and that responsibility falls directly on me, the creator and curator of the series since it's inception.

The entire goal of the Ambient Online Compilation series was to fund our site, which after the cyber attack in 2014 where we basically had to "disband" the site and had to rebuild it from the ground up, were left to choose no other option than the more expensive "cloud server" which we reside on to this day. With the sales of the compilation, we met our goal and more and I then took aim at a higher purpose. That purpose, which it has always been was to provide exposure to the artists involved. We have certainly achieved that goal and more having several AO Compilation artists go on to have successful careers in ambient music.

The future is still unwritten and there are several directions we could go from here. For now, I have removed the option to purchase the Ambient Online catalog and every album is set to pay what you want. I may create another compilation series again down the line, but for now I haven't committed to anything yet. Stay inspired and I hope that your journey with ambient music continues to thrive now and in the future.
