post good dark ambient artists

i find dark ambient music to be quite cool but my exposure to the genre is limited to a few kammarheit/cities last broadcast albums and boards of canada's geogaddi. i quite like the kammarheit stuff but have never been able to get into boards of canada.. what other dark ambient artists out there have their own cool sound?

Ulf Söderberg from Sweden is very obscure and his CDs are damn hard to find, but what he makes is spectacular and dark, often with thunderous tribal elements to it.

He also has CDs released as Sephiroth, one of which (Draconian Poetry) is currently available as easy download on Amazon.

thanks for the overwhelming number of responses, guys! i'm slowly making my way through this stuff while creating art. i listened to excavation a few times and found it quite cool; miste is probably my favorite track (that vocal chop!). i've made my way through some of raison's work too, but i thought a decent amount of his earlier stuff was underwhelming. i'll post as i listen to more of it (and post the art i made while listening to it, too).

that album was more ambient with dark themes than dark ambient. even so, i found it too weird to really get into, which was odd since i like weird music.

There are a few more, mainly from Russia and Ukraine (why from eastern europe? Why not Spain or Mexico??? Too much sun there?), but I forgot their names (can look for them if you are interested, but I think, you now have more ressources than time to listen :biggrin: and need no more). Normally I listen to the german DAR, only occasionally to ghostbox.
