What Music Are You Listening To Today?

I have been hooked on The Avalanches new album "We Will Always Love You". 25 tracks and 70 minutes of funky soulful bliss wrapped in gossamer. Listened to it a half dozen times and it still makes me smile. It wants to be heard in its entirety at a single sitting. Came out two weeks before the New Year, so it didn't make "The Best of 2020". It certainly is my favorite of the year.

I saw them here in Philadelphia between 1988-1990. They also used an open reel for drum playback and even though I loved the music that night, I was disappointed about there being no drummer. The only real percussion going on was Liz Fraser slapping her chest in time while singing. I saw Thomas Dolby use an open reel for drums around that time(or before) and was equally disappointed. Come to think of it...Dolby may have been solo with the band on tape...too long ago to remember.
EDIT - Also, their later albums has Liz doubling her vocals a lot, so I was also disappointed not to see a singer carrying that duty. I guess they had to keep the tour cost to a minimum, so no drummer, no backup singer. They did have a second guitar carrying the rhythm parts though...that you for that much.
I want to see more of these 'The Tube' shows! That following week lineup sounds incredible!

I was impressed by the tracks from this guy on the tracklist, decided to made some research and found an amazing tape to listen.
