I've never been able to get into this band. Talented musicians for sure, but I just don't "get" it :(

it actually took me a while too, i hit upon the track "Octavarium" from the album of the same name and that did it for me

A friend kept hitting me with the 'if you like Rush you'll love DT' line but never got them at all. Maybe too metal for my tastes. :D

Images and Words was the only album I've owned, and is the last album I've heard. That was 1992. :razz:

I personally really like technical metal. ...And Justice for All is my favorite Metallica album, and that's their most technical album.

Never really got into them. I've heard a track here and there that I like, but in general their music is just forgettable wank.

I also got that "If you like Rush..." but I don't think the two bands are anything alike at all.

Something about Dream Theater just clicks with me. I can understand how they're not for everyone, and I agree that they are nothing like Rush, who I also love.

I love their version of Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding.

its funny because i love dream theater but could never get into rush, i think theyre extremely talented but geddy lee's voice does my nut in

It's an acquired taste, but I got used to it early on. When his voice broke in '81 I was confused for a while

I'm a DT fan, though to me it seems they've written the same album over and over since Systematic Chaos. I'm also a bit sad Portnoy isn't in the band anymore, he really seemed to be the heart and soul.

I have to be in the mood for DT, but Octavarium would probably be the easiest album for non-fans to get into.
