  • Hobgoblin - The Mystery of Wharton Lodge (The last Seismic archive recording)

Another Hobgoblin track from 1980. This was salvaged from the same cassette source as the Novoid recording, and I processed it using a similar chain as was used on the Novoid session. Yamaha KX 580 SE cassette through my Pod Studio UX-2 into Goldwave and its hiss-removal facility. I then loaded the audio into EnergyXT to adjust the panning and removed some low and high-end with T-Racks EQ-PG, before adding a Quad-band compressor to give it a slightly more modern sound.

...and before you ask, this story is from a time before the adoption of DNA techniques in forensic science.

Thanks very much for checking this out, Andy, and thanks very much for the re-posts too. It's much appreciated. I'm reasonable happy with the results. It definitely sounds better than the original, plus I've now got backups of this stuff.

I prefer this track to Novoid. I think the music has a better "flow", and I think the lyrics tell quite a good little story.

I've had quite a Proggy month so far with this tape and the King Crimson concert last week.

Today I worked on some Electro/Techno, next week I hope to complete the AO5 compilation track.

That's a great song Tim, and a fine restoration job too

Thanks very much for listening, Mac. Glad you liked it

We were young, and I had probably been listening to Joe's Garage at around that time

You're not joking. This last week, I've been lucky to get home from the office by 10PM. Tomorrow I'll be on-call for one week. I'm just a wastoid geek.

Oh, wait, maybe you can give me a hand with this: does being on-call mean that you are home, but must be reachable via phone in case a situation arises on the job? This is something that we Italians always have trouble translating, there just seem to be way too many ways to say it in English for us to feel comfortable when using any... This sounds easy and logical enough, so if that's what it means, I can use it (and teach it)...

An excellent summary  although not necessarily an excellent predicament to be in :frown:

The facial was ok, but I seem to have misplaced my bum
