I've only started listening to new music on SoundCloud and other member music here and on KVR since about 2009.

Music started going downhill for me in the '90s all around, I lost touch with my band, got married, and lived a sheltered life (partly by choice).

I'm only starting to re-discover what's out there.

I'd love to do a colab, but I'm a pretty slow worker. I have plenty of ideas, but I procrastinate.
well thats cool by me i'm not short on motivation

i do have the access to record live drums, though i havent done many blast beats in the last couple years. Burns is like the God of death metal, i love every album he did

I prefer instrumentals for my own music, but if you have the capability of recording drums, I'm all for a little help there!

Thanks for your comment on tone. It's almost what I imagine in my head.

If you ever wanted a version with vocals i'd be happy to help out, i was the drummer and vocalist in a death metal band for 6 years. i love the guitar tone, nice scott burns vibe

I'm definitely not going to absolute realism here with the guitars. I just wanted something with a guitar tone. ;)

I do love Shreddage II, though. Yes, it works in the standard Kontakt 5 Player free version.

....or get hold of Metal Foundry SDX, but I think you probably didn't want to hear that :frown:

I think you should try to work on the bassline. If you give it a slightly different rhythmic emphasis, it may give you an idea for a new drum riff that doesn't sit so tight with the guitars. You could try to work it out on your fretless. It might give you a new perspective on the rhythmic interplay. That's something I quite enjoy doing, even if I have no intention of using a bass guitar on a track itself.

The guitars sound pretty good to me. I really like what I've heard of Shreddage 2 so far. Some of the leads in the audiosupernova demos over at KVR have had me drooling. Does it install a standard version of Kontakt Player for you? Maybe you can see where I'm going with this

It doesn't sound entirely real to me; but perhaps its because I'm a guitarist. I would say embrace the synthetic aspect, and try the electronic drums idea as well just to see what you get.

Okay, the phasing was due to SoundCloud's encoding.

I've enabled downloads so you can hear what's really happening.

I worked with the drums a little and boosted them, but now I'm getting a weird ducking effect with the guitars when you hear the cymbals. Plus they sound phasy.

I'll take any pointers anyone has to offer.

Yes, I think the drums are a little too forward in the mix now.

The first bands that I played when I was in high school were bands like Led Zepplin, but I got progressively heavier as the years went on, finally ending up on bands like Obituary and Sepultura.

But in the last ten years I've gone away from that and again I primarily listen to orchestral soundtracks and Ambient/electronic music again.

It's just that I used to dream of being a band unto myself for so long, even though I can't play guitar or drums (and really, I'm not very good on bass, either). Now, with computer music and sample libraries, it's all possible. :tu:

Right now I'm in a metal writing mood (even though I'm still not really listening to it) because I need to get some aggression out, but I'll be back to struggling with Ambient again once my album is finished.

Oh, and S1gns, remember, Dax IX does Ambient. Freak8/22 does Death.
It's funny really how many of us there are out there..who start out the same..go different roads musically..only to all end up bumping inot each other on forums like this later in life.

    Thank God for forums..uh? ;)
