  • Tom Re-Armed - ElectroProg (Seismic Revivalism)

Originally from October 2010, I have just given this a makeover. A tribute to the band who have influenced and entertained me so much. The Croydon gig in '76 was unforgettable (and also very LOUD).

I just remixed the hats ever so slightly. 2dB cut and added some bitcrusher/phaser. Beam me up Scotty

Thanks very much for checking this one out, Bruce. Glad you liked it I was really pleased to finally get this one "out there". Tangerine Dream were the band that kickstarted my Prog musical journey.

Here is the 2021 remix of Tom Re-Armed. The remix was easier than I had expected, knowing that there were timing issues to be addressed, but they really didn't pose any problem in the end.

In addition to the timing issues mentioned earlier, I replaced a couple of synths, tweaked some reverbs, improved the EQ, panning and levelling. I replaced FerricTDS with Satin on the master bus and mastered in T-Racks5, ready for album release in 2021/2022.

EDIT:20220203 - I made some slight changes to the mastering chain, and managed to increase the LUFS by another 0.5dB. The album should be here soon.

            really nice work, Tim

gotta love that RedTron VST... without reading your track description, TD obviously springs to mind here

impeccable choice of sounds throughout, as usual

composition is great, too... I love how this piece evolves over the ten minutes, getting more complex each time

            cheers

Great track Tim, mixed and mastered to perfection as ever too. I love an anagram - is that title 'more t dream'...

And for bringing in the kick about 3/4 of the way through - you get the gold medal for restraint

An object lesson in building and holding interest over 10 minutes - definitely not an easy thing to do.

              Nice one,
              Mike

Thanks very much for listening and commenting, Andy, and thanks very much for the repost.

RedTron is fantastic. I have 4 different versions, which excel at different things. For a free plugin, it performs so well. I also have M-Tron Pro, but haven't actually used it on any tracks yet!

I'm glad I remixed this, because the rhythmic sequencing wasn't right on the original, and it had been bugging me for almost 8 years.

Thanks very much for listening and for the great comments, Mike. Glad you enjoyed it , and you win geek of the month award for September

I really liked the kick/snare combo on here, but I did have to pace myself.
