  • RadioSpiral

RadioSpiral is an internet radio station that streams music 24 hours a day, with live shows and performances every day of the week.

It is also a wonderful, open community of electronic music listeners and artists. During the live shows one can join in on Slack or Second Life.

The staff at RadioSpiral is always looking for new, original works by ambient composers, from a wide variety of ambient/electronic genres.

More info on submitting tracks here.

Disclaimer: I am not on staff at RadioSpiral; I do listen, am a member of the community on slack, and have submitted a number of pieces to the station.

I haven't listened or visited the chat room for a long time. Time differences make it difficult. Must make an effort soon. The chat room was always great fun.

I'd love to submit something to Radio Spiral but was so put off from bothering because the last "radio station" I contacted totally ignored my e-mail, in which I went to great length to tell the station about my work and that I had listened to what was being played and felt that I had something similar. Earlier this year that was...

synkrotron - The staff at RadioSpiral are small in numbers, but big in heart and dedicated to their community. Please don't let a bad experience somewhere else deter you from submitting your music.

The folks taking submissions are also radio hosts and participate in the Slack chats--that means you can engage with real live people to inquire about the status of your submission.

                    Maybe that was too much.

So I still have the Slack app from when we were between forum servers, what channel do I put into it?

EDIT: Trying to join the channel, but I can't get my invite since Safari WON'T display the Captcha code, so I keep getting an invalid code error- so I guess I'm gonna hafta fire up the PC JUST SO I CAN USE GOOGLE TO SIGN UP!!

                      (Grumble, grumble!!) Stoopid Safari!!

my God, I haven't seen mIRC since the 2000's! I didn't believe anybody was still even using it! Downloaded tons of music off there during the old 56k dial-up days!

I don't know if it's still around. mIRC used to use the # sign(hash tag), now it's Twitter I think. Maybe it became Twitter?
Anyway, the above is from the early days of Stillstream chat, and some of those guys ended up at RadioSpiral.

I know that I used mIRC pretty regularly from 1999 to the early 2000's.

I also used Napster for a brief period of time, but quit after the debacle with them being sued by Lars Ulrich of Metallica for releasing mp3s of an album they hadn't even released yet. Not into Metallica, never have been, never will be, but I could somewhat understand their point. This is what led Shawn Fanning to make Napster a pay music service. At the time, I was just looking for new music I hadn't heard before and lots of artists were giving away free stuff. Still are in some cases. Case in point here, ha ha.
