One of the things i have always loved about working in ambient music is that I often create these atmospheric or pad sequences that can just loop by themselves and I just sit and listen to them for 30-40 minutes sometimes. They are often not complex, just 4-8 bar ideas, but they often have that perfect background sound to them. Anyone else do this?

I lost a lot of time working on the latest One Sample Dare due to this very "problem". You are not alone. ;)

All the time. In fact, I'll often solo a single channel and do that. It's a great way to fine-tune individual sounds and patterns and answer email or field POs while working on music... just loop it and leave it... tweak... answer email... tweak...

Don't we already have a thread about this or am I in a loop of my own? ;) Kidding.
The answer is of course I do...and sometimes, I'll create a loop for "something to listen to" while I work on other things...like you know, hanging out on ambient online.
It's the beauty of being able to do what we do. We are the music creators...we create our own sonic spaces if we so choose.
