  • Feedback/Critique thread or section?

I thought maybe I would see about this. There is a Theory board, a Collab board, New Release, recommended 'n other good stuff.
How about at least a specified Feedback thread - I think that word is better than critique, because that implies invitation to be probably overly critical of others work - or maybe even a unique board one day.. Worth considering? This way, ppl here will know they are not cutting in, too. They'll feel more comfortable than saying something where advice or deeper thoughts into it are not being intentionally sought out. If they see a gathering of artists who are just saying; please let your honest opinion fly here and look as deep into what i offer as you want and i won't get offended because i'm clearly looking for this sort of thing here in this designated place asking for it. Then, both parties will feel very comfortable and it might make for very dynamic conjecture..be a really busy thread/special board.
More traffic/activity is almost always good.

I'd like to see a 'tear my track apart' thread-- one could ask for specific feedback (is my mix ok? are the drum sounds good?) or general. With the understanding that responses should be specific, and with the understanding of the poster that the track will be criticized. Honest, well constructed feedback makes musicians grow.

ha! great idea - i would go in for that.. levels of insanity like the Diablo series?? Nice
      How much can one handle?
I'm down to do a collab with an Ambient artist and call the EP 'Difficulties'..with each song being Normal, Nightmare, Hell, Inferno. It would have to be terrorcore drone, for obvious reasons. HMU

That would be great. It's tough to get good feedback on ambient music anywhere right now. Lots of people don't listen to the genre so they don't really know what sort of feedback to give you. Plus there are a lot of experienced people here. This should happen.
swell: [swel] // verb (used without object)
: to rise in waves, as the sea.
: to well up, as a spring or as tears.
: to grow in bulk, as by the absorption of moisture or the processes of growth.

I'll cough up something soonish then-- I'll provide some ground rules for people to work with (you have to criticize something to post a track, be nice, even when you're being mean, etc.)

Let's see if it takes off.

sure hope it takes off! Had thought of something like this a few times before...back then I had a format in mind, in which one track is "up for critique" for a certain amount of time...in that way I wanted to focus the attention of the forum community at one track at a time.I eventually thought that was too bulky a concept and abandoned it, but I still see a certain risk of 'dilution' if too many track vie for feedback at the same time. Perhaps we find a middle ground At any rate, great initiative, I hope to contribute and profit from this in the future!

Yeah, I'm also in EDM production, too. I especially write hard techno. I invented my own genre called Hydro-Noir..no joke. I gotcha tho. Ppl tell me all the time..I like Ambient, but I have to be in a certain mood for it. Which, I don't really get because I suppose I'm always in the mood for it and it's my #1.. i hang around often with clubber/ravers, tho. They are way more plentiful than hooking up locally with other Ambient artists [who take it uber serious]. Yet, all Down-Tempo is not fringe, tho. Yeah..you can turn ppl onto your music..i'll give you all a tip. Look for ppl who can talk classical/baroque. They are floored by this music [not every time], and they already love music that has no Nng-tss Nng-tss Nng-tss Nng-tss
