Simple idea, pick the 3 most essential ambient albums that you just couldn't be without.

Mine are:

Ghosts on Magnetic Tape by Bass Communion, this album has had more influence on me musically than any other.

Cold Summer by Lull. I had known Mick Harris as the drummer of Napalm Death, so I was surprised to discover he produced dark ambient.

Horizons by Northaunt. Simply put, this album is beautiful in it's bleakness.

There's no such thing as "essential ambient albums" for me. Thus - I wouldn't even care. :D

I'd rather take some equipment to compose some ambient using whatever sounds I record on that island, haha.
