  • CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Ambient Online Themed Compilation 05: The Sea

Here we go again! It's time for another Ambient Online Themed Compilation. This theme is bound to make some waves...The sea. The sea, with its daunting width and depth, simply stands for life itself. It may be quite calm, but it become raging and even deadly in an instant, with the waves representing the sudden obstacles life throws our way. It is both beautiful and extremely dangerous. Herman Melville once wrote: “When beholding the tranquil beauty and brilliancy of the ocean’s skin, one forgets the tiger heart that pants beneath it; and would not willingly remember that this velvet paw but conceals a remorseless fang.”

In astrology, the sea is ruled by the planet Neptune, God of the Sea, and the ruler of the sign of Pisces. Neptune is considered a planet of inspiration, dreams, psychic receptivity, illusion, and confusion. Neptune rules spirituality, and all things subtle. The element of water is also associated with the signs Cancer and Scorpio. Water signs are intuitive and sensitive, and they feel more intensely than the rest. They are emotional and nurturing, and like a river run very deep. Alternately calm like the sea or possessing the force of torrential rain, the emotions brought forth by this element are plentiful, indeed.

Here are the finer details. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send me a private message!

Dear S1gns, I am up for that! I imagine it'll sound something like this, but not exactly, as that'll have been released by then: https://ironwork.bandcamp.com/track/original-face
    Comments welcome.
Question: do you want it mastered or not? I would prefer to master it myself, then you adjust the level if you want for the compil.
    All the best, Graham/Ironwork

I have done a lot of things in the past that revolve around the ocean. This could be interesting.

sub'd. Thanks for the opportunity. I think this track fits the bill pretty well. It's not totally 'ocean' themed, but like most of the stuff I do it is water based. The title could be different, if it would make it more of the ocean vibe, but what is in a name?

Mastering can have a less-than-concrete definition these days. I rely on an older definition by which it would be difficult at best to master a single track to appear on a multi-track album without having some or even all of the other tracks for relevance.

If I am not mistaken, the mastering here is primarily to provide more continuity in loudness/listening experience throughout the compilation as a whole.

and in my case specifically, get the levels up where others can actually hear it
