some pads or echo-reverb-panning-include tracks sound better in stereo. But a lot of stereo tracks may transform you song into the mud pool.

not for ambient music, but on some gigs I convert tracks to mono for better hearing in mix with live instruments

I use both, but I work entirely in hardware so for me it depends on the particular synth module I am using. Some of them are mono outputs only. To be honest, apart from doing something specifically with like a pingpong delay I have never really come across much where I felt that the mono was in any way a hindrance to the sound I wanted to achieve.

    Working With Stereo Versus Mono

I have been predominantly working with stereo sounds when creating drones, sounds, etc... Sometimes I will break a stereo track into two mono tracks to work with them individually. I'm curious to know if you are using stereo, mono or both, and in what ways.
