I'm currently trying out using an image for my artist name, rather than using titling text within the video editor:-

    Too corny?

Can't make my mind up myself because, being the creator, I find it difficult to be subjective.

Part of me says "cool" but I thought i'd throw it out there, see what you guys think

    cheers

Sorry for being a pedantic arse - have had a couple of beers. Think you're having trouble being objective.

Haha it took me a couple seconds to figure that one out until I reread Andy's post.

The font and style says “space music”. What do you want it to say?
What’s wrong with the one you use as avatar in this forum?
            But it looks nice

I appear to be having trouble with my grammar

Yeah, knowing where the text starts has always been a possible issue.

However, I treat this image more as a logo, that just happens to have some text in it. It is my current logo and I use it on my SoundCloud page. Logos, as such, don't necessarily need to be read to be understood, just recognised, if you know what I mean.

Some company logos don't even have text in them. Take, for instance, the Yamaha company logo. It uses three tuning forks arranged in a circle. The same logo is used for their musical instruments and their motorcycles, so it it quite a recognised logo around the world. Even the company logos that do have text are instantly recognised without actually reading the text.

This is what I was thinking when I designed my first logo, which I created about 16 years ago and is the one I use on this forum as an animated GIF. I actually wanted peeps to look at it and go, what on earth is that, but eventually understand it, as it would more often than not accompany my music somehow. When I created my new logo, last year, it was because of a number of reasons, one of which was I didn't like how it looked on SoundCloud. And I couldn't improve the image because the 3D CAD file that I used to create it was lost. And it was old, so I wanted to create something new and fresh.

There is more about my logo artwork here:-

Regarding the animated GIF I use here... This is all I have now and it's a small file at only 92 pixels square. I wish I still had the original animation file but I can't find it, on any of my backup drives. It is my favourite. If you look closely, even on the small image, you can see a small red sphere spinning clockwise inside the synkrotron tube, and there is a yellow sphere spinning anti-clockwise.

I was thinking last night that if I did use my old 92px logo, it would have to be as a tiny image, perhaps stuck in a corner. I could use my new logo at the beginning of the animation and the tiny logo at the end.

Anyway, thanks for chipping in guys!, I appreciate it.

in have yet to ask my harshest critic, my eldest son, who will probably tell me is it crap hahaha!

I have now rendered my latest 12 minute long animation so the next step it to create some ambient music to go with it. Sonar lets you bring video into it, although I have absolutely no idea how that works...

              cheers

Good answer. Then I’m happy
Yep that little red dot is nice.

Have made my very first HitFilm video. I Think I have to read the manual!!!!! But at least I managed to make a double exposure. Maybe that’s not the right word then we talk video? Thanks for the tip. Expect a lot of double exposure in the future. Same cheap action cam. One shot on the modular. On shot made by kid sent to the woods (is that legal?). As music/noise a modular self generating patch. It’s always interesting to see what the music does to the pictures and vice versa.

Double exposure sounds good to me :D

I know what I'd like to try with the woods footage... Add some kind of posterise effect and then take the colour out of it. I think it would look good with the vertical lines (trees).

Crazy thing is, there is so much more to video than sticking a few videos and stills together... So time consuming though, and the music starts taking a back seat...

                        Hello,

Did you, creative musicians, already check out a 3D modelling software?
I was looking for a way to visualize my musical project The SSP and because I couldn't achieve what I wanted by the 'let's say Adobe Premiere and others', I stumbled on a totally free 3D rendering soft, called Blender . I had no experience in this field whatsoever, but as an ex informatics guy I thought I might pick it up more easily. The learning curve was steep, and lot's of hours into the project, but what you can get out of it is without limits!!
Check out my first attempt after 6 months of hard labour:

I did this in Adobe Premiere Pro, but this is also possible to do in Blender self! Blender is very versatile, but because I already knew how to do this sort of 'chroma' techniques and layering in Premiere Pro, I choose the 'old fashioned' way ;-)

If you do a search in YouTube or alternative on Blender, You'll find the amazing things we can do with Blender. check it out!!

I know that some people use Blender as a video editor and don't even venture into the 3d stuff. I think it was mentioned in the list that Gary had posted, and I reposted at the start of this topic.

I did try it as a video editor and gave up. My previous experience was with Adobe Premier and Blender is nothing like it.

As for the 3D animation side, I just didn't have the patience to get to grips with it and I uninstalled it.

But that was just my experience and I'm sure that it's not all that bad

I'm taking the liberty of posting this in 2 threads here. It's the result of days of waiting for Chaotica images to render and then putting it all together.
