since my last post in this topic I have given up on Sony Movie Studio and switched to DaVinci Resolve, which is free and very powerful

another development is moving away from flame fractal animations, at least for the time being, and creating abstract animations directly in DaVinci Resolve using the Fusion page, specifically, rosette style graphics

    here is my latest example,

and today I did a (rather embarrassing) livestream where I talked about how I go about creating them

Hey there! I stumbled upon this thread and thought I could share my experience with video creation and editing. I also use Adobe After Effects, and I agree that it can be time-consuming when working on a long video with many cuts and transitions. One tip that has helped me is signing the different fragments containing events, which helps to keep track of the audio and video tracks and their order. For those who are new to video editing, I would recommend checking out Vidpros. It's a user-friendly online video editing software with simple functionality that's easy to understand for most people.

This is a late addition to this thread, but OBS Studio is, among other things, a ‘kick-ass’ screen capture program that has made my production work flow much easier in the creation of videos. I still use Adobe After Effects to post-process, but I no longer need a video camera to capture the visualization. OBS also captures at full HD quality in real time, you simply have to choose the parameters for recording before hand. (Of course, it doesn’t hurt that I have a much better video card than I did in those days, a faster CPU with more cores and more RAM).

The greatest part is- it’s free! For those interested, you can check it out here:

OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is free and open source software for video recording and live streaming. Stream to Twitch, YouTube and many other providers or record your own videos with high quality H264 / AAC encoding.

I am now able to process video in 4K resolution, and a track that is around 8-10 minutes in length can be processed in under two hours- usually 30 minutes to an hour depending on how many effects and transitions I apply.

Here is a recent example of a 4K video I posted:

I constantly use this tip in my video editing: signing the fragments containing different events. This method helps me not to get confused about audio and video tracks and their order. First, I paint the plot on paper as a sequence of video fragments, and then I start video editing. If you are a beginner in video editing, I advise you to use the program https://www.movavi.com/. I also started with it and didn't regret it. The developers implemented a simple functionality that is easy to understand for most people.

I just installed a newer version of Adobe After Effects, and am working on a video I made on New Year's Day. It's a long video though, so I have to make a lot of cuts and transitions- going to be time-consuming for sure! It's why I didn't have it posted the same day.

I just discovered these like a year or so ago. Both are free-to-use, and both are Hollywood level software. Both are from Blackmagic Design.
For those wondering about an alternative to After Effects, give Fusion a try. It's quite powerful. --> https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/fusion/
And as to a quality, easy to use video editor, it's hard to beat DaVinci Resolve --> https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/pro...avinciresolve/
    Good luck, and have fun.

If things go well my new band Oneo Fakind will be playing a few shows soon. We have a couple of iPad apps we might try using for live video effects to go with the music. I also just heard about TouchDesigner - which looks like a very powerful tool for making visualizations for music, but quite probably out of my league in terms of complexity. Anyone heard of or used it? Any other ideas for live video?

This is cool! Too bad I'd need After Effects to do something like this... I did like seeing the examples of how people are using milkdrop though. I think I could do a screen capture of that and then put some effects on it in HitFilm and it might be very interesting... hmmm...

Here's my newest video, if you're interested in seeing the power of the free version of HitFilm for ambient videoscapes check out the very end (starting at 4:18)
