  • ONE SAMPLE DARE 25

    Hi,
so here is the (new) sample I propose for OSD 25. As I haven't found the time yet to go out and record some sounds with my new field recorder, It's a sample from a tennis match:

    Here the link:

    http://soundcloud.com/aural_solace/tennis-match-sample

    Have fun!

The idea of the contest is to create ambient track using only one sample.

    Rules are:

    1. Additional samples, soundfonts, synths, samplers are NOT permitted (except instruments which will use only given contest sample loaded). Any other processing of contest sample is permitted.

    2. You can use as many copies of original sample as you want, each processed with respect to Rule 1.

    3. Time for submissions is 16 days, counted to midnight, UTC, of 16th day.

    4. Submissions should be uploaded to place available for all AO members. Links should be posted in thread dedicated to given round. Please, do not use hosting with countdown, CAPTCHA and other obstacles.

    5. Sample is provided under CC0 (public domain) license.

    6. Winner of contest is chosen by votes of AO members.

    7. Winner of contest chooses sample for next contest.

    8. Participants SHOULD disclose the formula for winning track for the benefit of community.

It would be cool if the old threads could be opened again after the poll is finished, so that you can add your creation to a certain OSD even after the "competition" is finished. I'm still hoping to add a track made out of the knife sharpener sample from one of the old dares.
Only the current current thread would have to be made sticky...

It can be done. Inform me when you will have your track ready.
But you can also just simply submit your track in "Members releases" section and only make reference to particular OSD challenge.

I need to note that submitted sample is not compatible with rules 4 and 5 of contest.

              This one ? It's CC0:

If freesound per se is the problem, let me know. Someone else would then have to choose the sample as I won't have time in the next weeks to record my own sounds outside :(
(I don't think I can just download it from freesound and upload it to Soundcloud?)
Reuploading CC0-licensed sample on SoundCloud should not be a legal problem. Please select sample with WAV/FLAC/AIFF format (no lossy MP3/OGG).

Yeah I couldn't find a basketball game sample that was licensed as CC0, so I had to take this one. But I think it's ok too. Less squeaking though unfortunately :(

I have no problem with accepting your work with the "old" sample. But you'll have to ask the moderators.
