Nice job Tuonela... The layering of the vocals about half way through was most eerie. Uncanny thing your title "Lamentation" because I was going to call my "Existential Lament" but changed my mind.

Your example sounds very much a lament, so good choice that.

one for the headphones, lots of quiet detail (testing out my new akg headphones!)
did a lot of twisting and mangling in audacity, not sure i can remember everything
track 1: denoised, echo and delay, then reversed more echo and delay, reversed back.
track 2: denoised sample reversed blurred in paulstretch, echo
tracks 3 - 5: harmonics at 440 hz and 660 hz, pitched down 6c, octaves adjusted in real time (paulstretch standalone)
6: 1-5 mixed down pulled into live run through dimension expander, ambience .1, subtle chorus. rerecorded in audacity with tracks 1-6
7: track 6 run through crazy ivan
track 1B: oh also, i got bits from track 1 and pitchshifted and paulstretched them (like the bike)

This was my first effort. I went back this morning and finished it.

          1. Clipped a segment (I think the airplane flying over...don't remember!) and Paulstretched it in Audacity.
          2. Pasted stretched sample clip into Reaper.
          3. Sent audio from clip to three other tracks pre-fader. Fader on clip to zero.
          4. One send went to a track containing Uhbik-F, ReaEQ, and Uhbik-S. Volume automation on this track. Send from this track to Old Skool Verb track.
          5. One send to track containing MMultiband Granular. Dry/wet automation on this track.
          6. One send to track containing Old Skool Verb and ReaEQ.
          7. Added a track with original sample imported into Metaphysikal Function Sampler. Sampler scans about a 30 sec. segment but at a slow rate. Sampler(Reaktor). Rendered a stem and added fades in/out.
          8. Master track has just a touch of Valhalla Shimmer, also Replika XT, TDR Nova (EQ), and Blue Cat Widening Gain.

I'm still sitting on the fence regarding Iris 2. I installed it and tried it out for a bit but I didn't really bother getting to grips with it. Now that it's currently reduced I am kind of tempted but it is still a lot to pay for something I may not use that often...
            Thanks!

I'm not sure if I go for Iris 2. It's not that easy to use.

I often find myself trying something in Iris 2, and after enough trial and error ultimately end up going back to Iris '1' to implement it to my liking.

              Exploring The Cave

my second entry for this round:

I used Iris 2 and Kaleidoscope extensively ... effected by M2F2 and Verberate.

                I have a third...

I was in two minds about posting this to be honest. Sounds half baked to me. I wanted to try something... I have had Vocodex for a few years and I have never bothered using it. So I stuck a couple of instances in to run the sample through.

Iris 2 features, yet again, as does R-Mix.

                Just an experiment really.

Two things I like best about this creation is the higher frequency tonal patch and the percussion patch, both created from small sections of the sample, a squeak and a banging door. Iris 2 may be hard to use but I am liking what it does...

Some things I do not like are, there are some crackles throughout the track, which I am only just hearing now as I am playing it back on SoundCloud, and the melody is much to loud at one point, and I don't know how I missed that. Might fix it if I have the time...

                cheers

                  Flock Of Birds

my third entry: mangled in Iris 2, played polyrhythmic on several tracks using prime numbers for the lengths of the rhythmic patterns, and processed through 6 instances of Kaleidoscope ... yes, Iris and Kaleidoscope complement well and are both a great fun for exploring new sond-worlds

Mmmm...... I've looked at Kaleidoscope before and I've always thought it a bit expensive. I notice that it is now on sale until the end of July, so I sense yet another purchase coming on, and all because of the One Sample Dare challenge haha

I used the demo for more than a year ... the demo is fully functional but only for 30 minutes. By bouncing or recording the output to a wave file it is possible to use multible instances in one track.

                        Reverberation Chamber

At last ... a drone using lots of stacked delays and reverb:

This is my fourth entry (crazy round, istn't it?)
I ran 4 instances of the sample through MFM2, then I copied every result 3 times and did some pitch-shift to get a more chordy sound. After that I used different feedback-delay settings in Bitwig combined with Verberate in the feedback-loops to make it drone...

Is Reverberation Chamber an OSD42 track?

It's just that you haven't said so in the description.

I've added it to my play list anyway.

Great drone by the way :listening:

Ah... Right... I'll have to get the demo then for sure. There's always the chance that I don't gel with it...

                            thanks

A live treatment of the sample using ambient v.3 software, triple tracked and treated with delay and reverb in Audacity.
