Edit: Image linked down below too. Thanks PW67.

    The Rules:

    1. There are no restrictions as to how the track is created. All sound sources and processing methods are allowed as long as you have the rights to use them (ie. no sampling of copyrighted tracks etc).

    2. The image is only an inspiration, you do not have to use it to generate any sounds (in an application such as Metasynth or Kaleidoscope)

    3. The challenge is open for four weeks. If you're a little late and the thread is still open then please post away or PM me (GaryG); this is a fun challenge and entries are more important than the deadline.

    4. Submissions should be uploaded to a place available for all AO members. Links should be posted in thread dedicated to the given round. Please, do not use hosting with countdown, CAPTCHA and other obstacles.

    5. Winner of contest is chosen by votes cast by AO members.

    6. Winner of contest chooses the image for next contest. Photos, digital artwork, pencil sketches... All acceptable. The image can be hosted at Ambient Online or on a site such as Imgur if you feel a high quality copy is preferable.

    7. Participants are encouraged to discuss their methods for the benefit of the community.

Entries should be submitted by midnight UTC on Saturday 25th February 2017.

A small request: To save me excessive copying and pasting, could entries be in the format:

    artist name - track name
    soundcloud/hearthis/whatever link

    comments or notes.

    Best of luck!

For some reason, the writing in the above post is very pale. Link readable though. Lovely pic. Looking forward to it :-)

That's strange, better now? I've just copy/pasted it again. Never noticed as I use the light theme (which looked fine...)

                windspace - UnderStream

Tonight we are pleased to present a sumptuous portion of Algorithmic Composition served with generous helpings of delay, EQ, and reverb, and seasoned with subtle hints of coloration and saturation.

                        Ok, maybe I slipped up...

...when I said 'link' in the intro, I didn't mean forgoing the S2 tags etc, just having the track info (whether link, S2, HA etc etc) on the next line (as Windspace has done).

Sorry, for the confusion. Don't worry about editing anything this time, I'll ensure the voting thread is nicely formatted.

                          arachnaut 'Underwater Glimmers'

Fractal Tune Smithy was set up to run a Polyrhythm bank with 4 instruments which drove a GM synth (Roland TTS-1).

I randomized things until I got something reminiscent of drops on water.

I mixed that with my 'Procrastin8r' infinite delay Reaktor ensemble to get some resonant swells, but not too much.

Then I put that mix through Kaleidoscope running Simon's 'Glory 06 Ambient Freeze 1' preset.

I restarted Fractal Tune Smithy and let it run for a while and then chose this portion of playback for my submission.

                            arachnaut 'Submerged in Champagne'

Fractal Tune Smithy set up to play a 4-part tune.
These are sent to Falcon playing multitimbrally:
part 1 is an acoustic guitar-like sound
part 2 is a bass sound
part 3 is a flutey sound
                            part 4 is a bongo-type sound.

                            Then:
part 1 is sent to Replika XT
part 2 is sent to the B2 reverb
                            part 3 goes through Aether
                            part 4 is dry.

These are all mixed into a send with MMultiBandGranular, MMultibandHarmonizer and Reaktor Molekular in that order.

This is a wobbly-pitched sound that was influenced by those brewery samples in the latest One Sample Dares.

                              arachnaut - "Underwater Train Ride"

Fractal Tune Smithy was set up to make a 3 part tune - a guitar duet and an atmospheric pad.
This MIDI was sent to a Falcon Multi I made and split into two sends.
One send used MMHarmonizer and the other used Replika XT.
