I created this one entirely on my laptop while travelling, recorded several takes of my Requinto (only actual instrument I'm carrying on the road on this trip) just strumming different voicing of a Dm chord, and the rest are samples, field recordings and elecronica. Spent 2 days working on this, February 25th and 26th 2018.

    Recording location:
    37°09'01.7"S
    56°53'06.9"W

    Microphone AKG 451EB
    Software; Sonar Platinum.
dede I'm really liking this! This is different! You're reaching into your 'dark' side for this one, and it's great! Why oh why can't you do one of these dares without doing a piece so good that I have to vote for you?? Guess I better get busy and do mine.

    EDIT:

Would love to see a picture of the guitar you used for this. I have a Yamaha APX-5A, a Fender Strat equipped with a Roland GK-3 pickup for my GR20 guitar synth, and a customised Gibson SGJ. I really need some kick-ass pedals for it, like a Strymon Big Sky or Timeline and a Roland GR55 synth.

For track 1 I started with a synth sample* pitched up 18 semitones and 16 cents, added Bicho Raro's Space Glum sample** as IR file in Reaverb, followed by ReaEQ, Newfangled Equivicate, Nebula reverb and GrainSpace. Duplicated the track to track 2, changing the Grainspace settings on it, and adjusting the BPM to 27 stretching both tracks to about 21 minutes.
Track 3 was a field recording, trees and wind feb 24 2018 by tim.kahn***, run through Klevgrand's Brusfri to get rid of some of the noise, recorded to track 4. Then deleted track 3.
Track 4 run through Trantra's lofi space station preset and R0verb
Master fx - Mastering Limiter and Molot

            Here's my submission:

I've included two links to the same file.

I was playing around with Reaktor 6 and the Cloudlab 200t plugin after installing Ableton Live 10 when it occurred to me that the results of my experiment would work great for the Image Inspired Dare, so I exported the file to 24-bit 48kHz wave into the Tascam DP24-SD 24-track recorder. I then added other tracks in from the Korg Kronos, and the Yamaha Reface DX fm synthesizers. This is the final result, at approximately 7 minutes, DARK and ALIEN invasion-y! Hence the title 'Plan 9'.

@ Sonic Bodhi: Nice work..reminds me a lot of something from the original Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis.

Hey, thanks you're extremely generous with your words.
Unfortunately I read your post and just landed back home, I left that guitar (requinto actually) behind me in south america, so I can use it on a future trip.
i did took a pic of the instrument (on location) while recording a piece the same day i recorded the Image Inspired one, here:
                  https://soundcloud.com/daniel-diaz/w...e-disquiet0321
a luminous track opposite to the dark one I shared here, but you can just see the neck and head of the guitar, not the body.
                  Cheers

                    @ Sonic Bodhi:

Excellent! love the Eastern/Asian melody that leaks in the background, like a proto-flute fro a different dimension, very disturbing yet mantra-like hypnotising track. Bravo

                    @ Ambire Seiche
Excellent use of reverbs and IR as texture, love your procudure's description, great to read it and listen, amazing results, great track. The frog like sounds comes from the field recording? It really adds something else to the soundscape. Bravo.

dede Thanks! I did check out the neck and head of the guitar. I owned a classical guitar at one time, and they are nice, but my personal preference for playing is steel-string acoustic, or acoustic-electric. Yours sounds great, though!

Actually figured something out for this one! I guess at first i kept thinking to literally, "wut the hell am i gonna make inspired by a building??"

i gave up pretty fast but then i went with the random idea of an all seeing space eye, so here you go. :D

Great track, quite menacing. Like staring into the monster's eye.
The high pitch whine-chords in the second half are great.

I'll suggest you make the track not-private, so we can "like" it. I could stream from your link no problem though.

I find this piece is very successful at creating a mood- not only is it 'menacing', but it's as if the Eye has been on its lonely vigil throughout the Aeons, searching for something it can't quite find...

I call this track "Girl In The Eye"

Now long text free to skip...
I didn't have the intention to take part in this dare.
So I started to listen to the submissions. Usually I don't if I intend to join.
Think the picture opened up for a nice theme - eye/seeing...

Here's a list of my theme related "activities" etc...

I noticed - saw - that Daniel Diaz, in his excellent submission, used a Dm chord.
A beautiful chord. Decided to use that my self.
I take a eye related poem written by Gustaf Fröding (1860-1911). Extremely Swedish...!!!!
I use the last part of his looong tragicomic poem "Flickan i ögat" (Girl in the eye).
It is read by a Swedish well known, often seen, actor Sven Wolter.
                                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEkVA15EhPw
From freesound.org I take a recording from the restaurant "Eye" in Amsterdam.
The recording was made by Hans Zimmerman (https://freesound.org/people/hz37/sounds/369496/).
My part is a droney generative patch on my modular. All analog, spring-reverb, analog delay... one take, no hands...etc... (excuses...?)
