  • Ungrövist (featuring "Depraved State" from Quake Speedmapping Pack 199)

Their dreams bled madness through space and time. Decay has seeped into every corner. This nightmare has transformed life into a depraved state. This track debuted on the Quake map "Depraved State" made by Mikko "Newhouse" Uusitalo and Jose C. Rodriguez (JCR), for which this video was constructed from. Nicely done! Fits with the Quake imagery quite well!

    EDIT:

Thanks for the map! Will it work on the demo version of Quake 3?

Looks very much like Quake I

I only got into the game as Quake II

And then when Quake III came out I didn't bother... too damn hard haha!

I made a map for DOOM once.

There was one room, a shed, really, with a single slide up/down door. It was basically sanctuary and chocked full of ammo and medic supplies.

As you spawned, and moved away to investigate, as soon as you got past a certain point a load of doors dropped down releasing hundreds of fire throwing monsters (can't remember what they are called now, even though I played DOOM 2016).

You then had to run back to the sanctuary in order to stock up with ammo and restore health before heading out to kill more monsters. It was a bit mad...

      Awesome sound track Immorpher

I may not post anything useful, but at least I do it often

It should work on the demo version of Quake 1, not sure if Quake 3 would have the sounds and models it refers to. People usually get Quake 1 to run on modern machines with FTE QW, Quakespasm, or ezQuake . Then loading in custom maps and mods I use simple quake launcher. I found it wasn't as easy to get running as Doom clients so let me know if you decide to try it out and need some info to get it going!

synkrotron This is indeed quake 1! I think I ended up playing Quake 1 and 2 about the same time. I got Quake on my N64 and Quake 2 was already out, so I ended up get 2 on my PC. Had a blast with both games! I didn't get into Quake 3 since it was so multiplayer focused and I wasn't into playing games competitively.

That sounds like a fun map, do you still have it somewhere? Those fire throwing "imp hordes" are a mechanic used in modern Doom levels, so it sounds like a good design tactic you did there! Sometimes my music appears on Doom maps as well, but it hasn't been as common as Doom was originally midi as opposed to Quake CD audio. But I play Doom maps as much as Quake maps, so I wouldn't mind giving your map a play!

I doubt it very much. Must be going back to the 1990's. From memory I think it was a WAD file.

Next time I do a backup I'll check a few of my hard drives. Not holding out much hope...

Ya if it was from that era it would be in a .wad file. Would be a fun little piece of personal history to dig up! I hear map editing is much easier now, so you had some dedication :D .
