  • Kaikeyi - Parallaxia/Phenomia

    Hi I'm new here.
I've been making ambient for a while and I thought I'd preview a live set i'm thinking up here. This is about half of what the set would be but I've never played live before so its just so I can get feedback in case it sounds terrible!

Any comments would be great! Does the latter half drag on a bit too much? It feels like it might.

    Hi kaikeyi

Welcome to the ambient online community and thanks for sharing your work here

I had a listen to your 14 minute piece. An interesting soundscape. Not sure how it would go down live... I suppose it's just a matter of getting out there and doing it. It will mostly depend on your audience and what they are anticipating. I am no expert... I have played live gigs as a band but never as a solo ambient artist.

    Paramnesia is a nice track

    cheers

        Hi thanks for listening
Luckily there's an ambient scene in my city for live gigs so I think I could get an appreciative crowd, but this stuff isn't 100% ambient its more of a blend.

Enjoying this track- I'm not sure why you think it is not ambient enough- because of the electronic elements with the sequencing, perhaps? This is somewhat reminiscent of Jean Michel Jarre, whom I consider to be ambient as well as electronic. Nicely done! I don't think you'd have a problem with a live crowd for this, as far as the ambient category is concerned.

EDIT: I actually enjoyed the second half of the piece and didn't find it too long... we here at AO are used to long-form ambient, and even prefer it at times.
