    Welcome to the Multiverse
    Tromp-l’oeil by IVAN BLACK

It is refreshing in these days of hyper-beats and over-romantic clatter to hear an artist voice ring strong, graceful and true. The new release from London based musician Ivan Black, Tromp-l’oel, is such an item.
Tusi-Motion starts us on a glider ride that is open: modern classical meets very early Weather Report. Beating harmonies remind me of one of my inspirations- Gyorgy Ligeti. On to the haunting Ames Room, which is my personal favorite, a possible love poem with wonderful repeating piano riff that resolves to a beautiful kiss. Pinna-Brelstaff Illusion is an unlikely anthem of sonique bravery in these uncertain times- (I hum it whilst my mask is on for extra protection). Ramp Aftereffect, is world music influenced ritual mind-beater…in a trance we all sing.
Mr. Black’s very liquid touch is refreshing, as it is familiar as a river walk is familiar, but sometimes leading us into darker more challenging territories, but always with a constant gentle hand and feed forward.
Troxler Effect, the album closer, seems at first an hommage’ to the Berlin years of Bowie and Eno, but resolves to question the mysteries still undiscovered in our century.
Ivan Black has created a Brave New World of Sound.

It's nice to see you getting the reviews and coverage you deserve! Checking this out now..

    EDIT:

Have listened to nearly the entire collection now, and plan to buy this.. Rarely have I heard experimental stuff of this calibre and quality.
