Most of the time I compose ambient tracks in two steps.

First I create few component tracks - in form of sounds from synths, effects, etc - prerecorded to WAV files (I don't use VSTIs directly
in DAW). Some effects are added to these component tracks at this stage.
Then I mix them down to one track. Just as S1gnsOfL1fe did in his "Aphelion"

Ambitron is used at the first stage very often - because it has "all in one" processing power - I get layers, reverbs, pitchshifting, stereo field effects, floating transitions in one single instrument. At this stage sometimes psyBOX+ is used, to prepare more "fundamental" drones.

psyGEN was used directly in two of my published tracks: Speleodrone-Celatataing and Speleodrone-Essegenabas
Samples loaded to psyGEN was created in external synths, including psyBOX+.

I referenced use of psyGEN at M-RGT forum at KVR in thread that I started (under nick Ranjarresh).

I must admit that my work comfort owes a lot to M-RGT instruments. Before their use I had to build chains of effects and work in many steps of processing. Now my path to final composition is easier and shorter. Moreover, many sound unreachable before are available for me now.

Yes, I have used the output from Ambitron into psyGEN and psyBOX and vice versa. You can get some very interesting effects that way.

Like I said on SC, the sounds you achieve here are immensely powerful and complex.
I checked M-RGT website and these instruments do seem very powerful and flexible, open to experimentation.
I bought Komplete recently because of Reaktor, do you guys think there is a similarity between Reaktor and the M-RGT approach in modularity, pluging the output of some intruments to others to create stranger sounds?

Gansalanovet

Ambience, Ambitron, AnviliaPro, AlienSpaceWeaver, DSK EtherealPadZ 2, PaulStretch, PhotoSounder, psyBOX+, Serenity.

Track starts with AnviliaPro opening, followed by Ambitron-generated sequence, processing two pregenerated pads
from DSK EtherealPadZ 2 and Serenity. Ambitron layer slowly fades out at 4:30.
The longest sustaining bottom layer comes from psyBOX+; at about half of the track length paulstretched AlienSpaceWeaver layer starts, followed by AnviliaPro - stretched and pitch-shifted in PhotoSounder.
Few layers were processed separately in Ambience before final mixdown.
