Afterworld (WIP, need help.. is this ambient ?)

Hey people,

If tried to make something that resembles ambient.
But a friend of me told me that this is NO ambient.. what is it then ?
Also another question : would I leave to vocals out or in ?

Vst's used : Predator and Beast
also used Vengeance effects..

Hey Jan, to me this is ambient dubstep sounding, check out phaeleh if you don't know what i mean, there are dark ambient sounds in there though, keep the vocals. I like it actually

Wow, ambient dubstep! This has elements of darkness in it...can we call it dark ambient dubstep? Whatever it is, I love it! Nice work man. The atmosphere in here is killer, there's all those little things underneath it all that really add to the piece. Very impressive.

Re: the vocals...they do sound out of place in the middle of the song. But you know how you bandpassed them at the end and they sounded all creepy? Keep that and put the same effect on the rest of the vocals in the track, see how you like it! :biggrin: She can stay as long as she sounds as dark and tortured as the rest of the track.

Keep it up man! You're on to something.

I wish my finished work was half as good as this "work in progress". I really like this, but agree with S1gns that the vocals in the middle seem a bit out of place. Is it ambient? It certainly has elements of ambient throughout the track, so I would say yes. Whatever you call it, I'm glad you shared it. Nice work.

My best friend found his mother dead last week, at her home. I went to the funeral and wrote this track : afterworld.

Great track! I don't care about the genre as long as it sounds good, and it does!!

I would filter the vocals heavily and automate the filter. Something like Signs suggested. And dromwn them more in reverb.
