  • TC-11 & Zebra Noodling

My first recording using TC-11. Recorded in one pass playing TC-11 with one hand and midi keyboard with other hand. (Disclosure: Ok, I admit it...I did a little midi editing to fix some "fat-fingeredness" on the plucked sound!)

Plucked sound is Zebra2 patch I made. Question for you stringed instrument players out there - how's the plucked sound sound? I'd like to refine it more if I can.

I'm not an expert, but I thought the pluck sounded like a koto/harpsichord hybrid, although thinking about it, it might be the melody that suggested the koto. It had a Japanese flavour. Really liked that pad sound too.

    Nice track

      Thanks man!
I started off trying to emulate a koto-ish sound, but it ended up having the lower registers sound much like a steel string acoustic guitar to me. Or a harpsichord I guess, I was imagining smaller instruments! The pad sound is a factory patch on TC-11 - "Cueva de los Fantasmas".

A haunting melody and I really like the background drones. Sounds choir like and counter-balances the plucking.

Thanks man! Have you gotten anywhere creating ambient type patches with TC-11? It seems like it will be an awesome ambient tool with the right patches. Most of the factory patches don't seem to fit an ambient motif...to me at least I am starting to try to build some of my own patches. I will be happy to share any that I think are worthy...

No. I haven't got very far with building my own patches. There are a lot of variables to consider. My suggestion is to take the most ambient sounding patches and mess with them to make it your own. This track was made 100% with TC-11 presets but is not that ambient.

This one is pretty ambient and was made with TC-11 presets and some reverb.

This one was made with TC-11 and Magellan.
