  • 1,5 hour piece - 'Lists'

In September 2013 I did the 'soundtrack' to a fashion presentation during London fashion week. The idea was to have a 2 hour presentation in a space where people were free to move around and get close to the garments, in contrast to the rushed runway shows where you can't see the details of a collection. I came up with a 2,5 hour piece, completely build up using guitars and stompbox effects. I've used degrading tape-loops, volume swells, a bottleneck, a halfspeed loop of a teaspoon in between the strings, all sorts of madness. Most of it drenched in delay and reverb. I also used a recording of static electricity slowed down 800%.

This is a 1,5 hour edit of the original 2,5 hour piece. I hope some of you can make time to have a listen and I look forward to your feedback.

only 15 minutes in but this is a great piece - tremendous restraint. How did it work on the night?

Thanks so much for taking the time to take a listen. And for the nice words of course! The music worked really well for the show. I've heard people comment that the show was like an oasis of tranquility - which was exactly what we were aiming for. It definitely stood out against fast-paced runway shows, too. One of the reviews said "an intention to shock was clear through rough edges, bizarre music and ambiguous images projected on the walls".
