  • What Duckett was doing 5 years ago

Here's something older but certainly ambient, uploaded to ccMixter almost exactly 5 years ago:

    Snowstorm (Gurdonark's Fireplace)

    2007 - Licensed under
    Creative Commons
    Noncommercial Sampling Plus

    Uses samples from:
"Night Rain in April" by Gurdonark
"Great Blue Heron Drone Sample" by Gurdonark

Hmmm... come to think of it, you all should check out Gurdonark's work- and I should try to talk him into coming round this-a-way ;)

That's a very pleasant piece to listen to. It would be perfect for watching it snow outside from within a warm home next to a fireplace!!

Thanks ho66it- a local actual snowstorm inspired this ;)
Gurdonark's samples, and ye olde Cakewalk Music Creator 2003 running edited MusiNum-generated MIDI to my equally olde XV-5050, with some mild audio post-processing, are what you're hearing.
      I decided to link to the version that doesn't include a "foley fireplace" track, as even though the effect wasn't horribly unrealistic, it still proved to be more irritating/distracting than soothing;
I'd first done the track headphones-only, IIRC and it wasn't until after uploading, a listen through monitors, and some review feedback that the "fireplace-free" version went up.. always learning, as it were ;)

I'm going to have to listen to this again. I set it to play and then browsed AO and I didn't notice it too much, so it sure is Ambient goodness!

I need to pay more attention on my next listen...

I'd like to hear the fireplace version, too, if you don't mind.

I definitely hear the snowstorm in this. It's pretty cold here right now (no snow) so this sounds just right sitting in the warm and looking out of the window

@ Dax: Thanks, the levels are certainly not ear-pounding, heh. Hope your next listen is enjoyable.. as for the "fireplace version", here it is, but don't say I didn't warn you ;)

@robojam: Much thanks- that's the sort of comment that makes me feel like I'd accomplished my goal with the track

I am loving what Duckett did 5 years ago!!!!!!! The way you have woven these elements together is masterful. My favorite part is that pianoish sound over the wind blowing...it's just great dude!!!

Thanks for sharing an oldie but still goodie with us!!!!! :D
