New album for electric guitar and tape recorder

I'm releasing the album Buried and Resurfaced on November 14 via Twice Removed Records.
I suppose it should be categorized as lofi ambient. Very nostalgic vibes from the wobbly old tape recorders.

What kind of hardware/plugins do you use for the lofi/tape effect?

Oh, I actually just used real physical tape recorders. Just the cheapo kind that noone wants anymore. Make sure you get a three headed machine if you want to use those as an effect on a track. It will allow you to moniter directly off the tape. The signal will have a delay according to the tape speed. If you feed the delayed signal back into the tape you have an instant tape delay. Actually, the more unstable machines will add more of that wobbly character in the form of wow and flutter. You can also help it along by touching the reels. Another fun thing is to crinkle the tape. That'll give you some uncontrolable dropouts and other artifacts.

Nice! I figured it was a hardware-based approach but did not want to rule out the possibility of plugins. Thanks for the tips/suggestions! I recently picked up an old Tascam 4-track to get back some of the tape fidelity I seem to always be searching for in a plugin, and I'm definitely interested in what others find success with.

4 tracks are fun. I love the limits they set up and I also find it very inspirational to work outside of the pc. Not that I'm a purist in anyway. Whatever turns you on! I have the El Capistan that I use for live stuff and it sounds beautiful, almost too much in a way. It is pretty expensive though and I'm thinking about reselling the thing.
