  • Ambient classical piece no synth used

Hello there. Here is my last draft ambient piece. I'm still unsatisfy. As usual, no synths used in it. Field recordings, live instruments, sampling, old records etc...
Feel free to tell my what you feel.
    Paix.

Why are you still dissatisfied with this? Honestly, this is a truly beautiful piece. That muffled-crunchy field recording you have running in the background is a perfect complement for the piano.

Thank you for listening and your kind words. I'm not a self confident person and plus i think i'm perfectionist ... so i work my music over and over again. In this case, I wanted to include a part of traditional Persian violin. But, i have never really managed to get it corectly into the song. So I gave up and "plume" is the light version. This is why I'm a little bit dissatisfied.

I did notice that from around 6:10 it felt as though the piece was coming to its natural end, and the violin - although it sounds great - seemed like an afterthought. I wonder if you could split it into two, like Plume I and Plume II, and if you had them both on an album you could open the album with one and close it with the other. Or something like that...

Really though I love this. Synths aren't typically my thing either, so I love the textures you've built out of acoustic sounds.

Gotta say, this sounds beautiful. I love the loop in the background for me the ending doesn't feel tacked on, it fits perfectly and compliments the rest of the track. That said, if you were to split it into two parts like iceworm says, and use it to bookend an album it would be just as good.

Thank you for your ideas and comments. I think I will take a pause and put aside this piece a bit for a while.

I find I have to do that as well. Sometimes I find a piece I wrote years ago and think it's brilliant, but wonder why I thought it was crap and left it. I wish I knew how to get that length of time down

My thoughts differ slightly from our colleagues above. I don't hear a divide at all, in fact I think the transition from approx 6 minutes feels natural and is very beautiful. My only suggestions relate to the strength of the individual parts. The crackling for example is way too loud for my taste, so too some of the other details in the back ground - they are not that far into the back ground at all. I would like to hear them recede further. I think the piece needs some variety in the strength of the individual parts. Too much competition with everything appearing to be at the same level. I few subtle adjustments in the mixing would make an excellent piece of music even better. Regardless of what I, or anyone else suggest, you must go with your instincts and make your music the way you want.
Excellent work and I am looking forward to hearing more.

Thanks a lot. You're right about mix levels. I was mainly focused on the composition on the first time. I m going to improve this part when the album will be ready to get out. (i hope !)

                        I like it!
I do agree with Maharg however about taming the field rec a little. I know, it's a matter of aesthetic choices.
Anyway, great track, Toan. Keep it flowing

Thanks Regonsch. I'm agree, field rec from the start are a bit loud. I'll fix it for the final release... Or maybe sooner because i'm going to play my tracks at the Ambiosonic fest this summer ! That was the great surprise from last week, i'm really happy.
