GSV Sleeper Service

Not done much for half a year and this is the first for 2016.

I have decided to name my next half dozen or so pieces after space ships from the Iain M Banks Culture series, a most wonderful set of sci-fi novels, in my opinion.

So, here we have GSV Sleeper Service, I hope you like it:-

Excellent work, and loving the Banks tribute. He's my favourite novelist and it's such a shame he passed away so young. The Culture series is phenomenal.

Yeah, I'm currently going back over some of his works now. I read most of it but have yet to read Surface Detail and I still haven't added Hydrogen Sonata to my collection. I kind of got lost in the Wheel of Time for a year or so haha!

Takes some going that book... I like the last three though and I liked the ending too. I was dreading the ending after spending so much time on it. I had read books 1 to 11 and the last two books hadn't been published yet, so I went onto GoT and a few other novels. Then, when the last WoT book was available on Kindle I started right from the start again... Marathon of reading, and I'm not a fast reader hahaha

Banks is currently my favorite SF author. Still have four of his SF novels to read. I just finished Transition, which is not one of the Culture novels. Some of my musical efforts have been directly inspired by scenes from his Culture novels, as was the first effort of my collaboration with ontol.

I had to google that haha! The other one is called Just Read the Instructions, bot from Player of Games.


I knew that Elon Musk was sending stuff into space but haven't really followed SpaceX Xploits to be honest.

Yeah, for me, Banks surpasses them all really. His imagination and story telling abilities were just brilliant, and so amusing too... I often LOL when reading his books :D


I have to admit though, I'm not one for being able to interpret words or pictures into music, which is why I don't do anything for the image inspired challenge. My only real inspiration is the sounds themselves, and what I personally like to hear.

So, all of my song names are just labels I'm afraid.

GSV Sleeper Service is the first track of a series I intend to create for an album which I intend to call something like "Culture," but I haven't made my mind up on that yet. All will be called after ship names, more than like the members of Special Circumstances and/or the Interesting Times Gang.
