New slices of Toast

Here's another new one-- mostly a test/use of Exhale, which I bought myself as a little gift:

I did this thing for the Disquiet junto. A lot more 'dark ambient' than my usual offerings. It will test your bass response:


As a bonus, it was recorded 'live', and I made a raw video of the recording:

That's a nice listen; I love pieces with conversations/spoken voices mixed in.

I am not familiar with Max/Msp; why is it the piece doesn't play the same way twice?

It's programmed to set off stochastic note combinations; and the percussion is triggered to only go off at random intervals. It will sound similar, but not the same.

Here's a new track. It was written using Max/Msp, so it never quite plays the same way twice. It's a song about my father, and it's ambient as all get out:

The patches themselves contain notes to remind me; and I use a similar scheme for each patch.

I don't know much about the Monome; how do you remember what functions are assigned to which buttons?

I've decided to make this a running thread of 'new stuff'-- rather than posting a new thread for each new thing because barf.

I've been messing about recently with Max/MSP and a monome; using the monome to trigger events in Max which drive my gear, in effect creating a live performance of a track. These patches are stochastic, so each performance is a little different; and I 'play' it until I like the results, then perform each track separately into Ableton for any further processing. The first track here "The Circle is About to be Cast" is more ambient than the second, "Strung", but they are both interesting examples of what you can do with a little time and coding.
