    Hmmm... Been on a roll...

Flower is my latest album consisting of six, ten minute minimal drones. One track was created back in April and parked as a WIP. After revisiting it at the beginning of November I decided to make some more Metaphysical Function drone pieces to go with it and, quite quickly, an album was born!

First track, Pedicel, has been uploaded to SoundCloud:-

And the complete album uploaded to Bandcamp:-

    I hope you like

    cheers

Andy: this is really great stuff. I've been striving lately to improve my transitions within a piece; major to minor, key to key, fade-in/out, dynamics, etc. I'm enjoying your apparent ease in that area on this piece. Very nice work.....bill

              Thank you very much, Bill

To be honest, I find that transitions do not come that easy to me, which is probably why I gravitate to creating more drone pieces than I should. My music theory is very shaky indeed so if anything sounds okay, in my work, in this area, then it's probably me just getting lucky haha!

Cheers, and thanks again for listening to my stuff.

I've read and heard many times that in places like Juilliard, they tell you to learn all the structures and the notes, and to site-read, and everything- and then, once you learn it all- to throw out all the rules... I just like to think of the compositional process as me having skipped all the boring aspects of learning the 'technical' stuff about music, and training my ear to hear as an engineer hears. This is one of the better drones I've heard on here, enjoyed it a lot! You don't have to know how to site-read! You just set up a few simple rules for yourself, and then follow them (whatever the parameters might be), and then make it sound the best that you can. You have succeeded with this piece!

Wow, thank you very much Avery, I really appreciate that. And, yes, I too happened to have skipped the boring bits, although there have a been a couple of time when I wish that I hadn't haha! I actually dumped music at school when I was age 11 because, back then, I just didn't get it. When I look back I now think that was a silly thing to do.

Thanks again for listening to my stuff Avery
