Some marvellous and inspirational stuff here, for sure.

One thing I find is, with the whole genre thing... Sometimes we tend to try and box things up and sometimes it's all just a little bit subjective don't you think?

I'm glad to see Huun Huur Tu in here. I often watch the concert they played at Fantasy Studios, Berkeley. It's on youtube. I love their instruments and that throat singing stuff :D

perhaps my favorite solo piano work. the soundtrack to hell. very minimal, quiet, contemplative stuff.... captures the raw depths of depression in seven short pieces.

I came across this "20+-minute drone-ified version of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs”" a bit ago. Definitely don't have to be a metal head to enjoy, it retains the more psychedelic side of Sabbath - the sound is a lot closer to early VU.

If the Watery Love set was the volume plateau of the Three Lobed / WXDU Day Show at King’s during Hopscotch Music Festival, the joint appearance ...

Ah, Nadja, love it. It was hearing them/him, and Barn Owl, that helped get me started making my weird rackets. Oh, and a guy called 36. :listening:

I've been listening to a lot of recordings on Ubu lately, such as http://www.ubu.com/sound/satie.html and finding the Pianoless Vexations interesting, tracks 9 & 14 among my favs. I'm tempted to try something like this, after sampling a recording of Bach recently.

re: Machinarium - I love the soundtrack for Botanicula too, I think anything Amanita puts out is pretty great.

Thanks Ahornberg...cool links, very fascinating! So, this has vocals, admittedly. But then this is the pseudo-ambient exploration thread Maybe a bit too saccharine...but interesting & Apparat is always worth at least one listen.
