  • Would love to hear from you.

Hi I'm new to the site and have just created my first album, I normally play the drums (over 30 years), but have wanted to branch out into other areas and although I'm still learning. I would love to see if what I have done is any good. I have also created a short film for one of the tracks, again it's my first attempt but would any feedback. I think my music is more for video than anything. But hey I'm open to your comments. Thank you for reading this.

    Thanks Andy

    Welcome to the forum Andy.

As well as sharing the same first name, we also have all our own here, which is nice :D

As soon as I get a chance I will listen to some of your music at SoundCloud.

    cheers

    andy

Thanks andy, appreciate it. You know what it's like when you create something new, you end up tweaking it loads (almost like George Lucas and Star Wars). Listening to your music now in Soundcloud

        Welcome to Ambient Online!
I love your work :listening: I'm not much for pigeonholing music in genres, so I'm no judge of fitness, but I found your music to be very enjoyable. And the short film is well done - the music flows with it perfectly.

Thank you so much, it's very nerve wracking sending your music out for the first time. Really appreciate that Windspace. I'm still trying to get around this forum. Have you got any music that I can listen to? Currently listening to Synkrotron's music, it's really beautiful. Not getting much work done though. That's the problem with Ambient music

            You are welcome
You could click on some of the links in the signature at the bottom of my post. You'll see why I'm not big on genre classification...my stuff is all over the place :D

Me and you are going to get along just fine ;)

I had to rush off for my tea earlier and then I had to take a call from a work colleague (I currently work from home so as a consequence my work hours can be anything between eight in the morning to eight at night). And in a bit I've got to do some more decorating (painting). So I've only listened to a couple up to now.

Nice and chilled though and I like what I hear.

You will find that some peeps here may feel that, in places, there is too much drums for "ambient" stuff. We do tend to have discussions about that from time to time and it's worth doing a search on that very topic.

Personally, I'm not too fussed, although for my own stuff, the last time I used a drum synth was on my track M81. Since then, the only beats or rhythms are provided by sequences or by certain effects like Tantra. And that was a conscious back when I first joined up here in order to "fit in."

May be, for some future projects, you could try dropping drums altogether and see how you get on with that. Sounds pretty radical, especially for someone who's main instrument is percussion, but I reckon you'd enjoy it. For instance, I am currently listening to Distraction and I reckon that would work perfectly without any percussion at all. I'd try it... Drop the drums, re-mix to adjust the levels a bit, and then stick it up on SC.

Right... Got to get some more painting done... Cheers for now,

                  andy

Thanks Synkroton, really apreciate that feedback. Yes I believe we will get along just fine. Wow! I would never have thought about dropping the drums being as that's my first instrument, but do you know what, I will take that on board because it's all about creating space. For someone who has played rock, wanted to grow there hair and listen to indie/goth. This is really a left turn at the lights Thanks andy

Yeah, nice work. Think you're probably towards the tuneful, structured end of the range of ambient, which is cool - I often venture there myself :-)

Thank you so much, I appreciate your comment, will venture out a bit more, this is all still very new to me and I know that I have a very long way to go, but it's all about getting the stuff out there and learning from it I suppose.

Thanks for sharing Andy. Beautiful melodies, very nice creations. When you say "my music is more for video than anything", I listened to your creations and think "yeah that's got cinematic style"
Just followed you on SC. Looking forward to hearing more.

                            Happy New Year.
