My favourite label at the moment is Luxus-Arctica

Favourite 'trad' ambient there is Marcus Fischers 'Arctic/Antarctic', smooth, droney and just gorgeous.

Also a couple of great albums by Visuelle Musik and Erik Nilsson. Very nice collections of processed sounds and minimal electronics.

And The Light Galaxia, lovely stuff.
Latest release: never to be repeated

Not familiar with his stuff, sounds really 'deep' from the samples.

So much music to check out since joining this forum...

I think the first Burial album could be classed as ambient. Maybe a little harsher sounding and beat-based than trad ambient, but a mighty fine listen. That guy does some frighteningly good things with sound. I've been listening to this a lot recently. At rather high volume:eek:

And legend has it he does it all in Soundforge audio editor, not with a conventional DAW or sequencer. Arranging beats visually like that must take some concentration but I guess that's what gives those records their uniqueness, everything is not locked to a grid.

If you listen to Spaceape really loud on a good HiFi system the vocal is staggering. The voice itself is notable for its accent and inflection, but the stereo processing adds a sinister edge to the track. It just fills the room like some menacing infestation.

Seems like Steve Roach has been busy in the studio!!!

New album early December!!! His music is the essence of ambient to me. Once I discovered Steve...I knew what I wanted to do!!! :omg:

Going to have to concur re: the Ultimae stuff. Modern masters, as it were. This, along w/ Biosphere, late 70's Klaus Schulze, some Eno // Bowie, John Foxx and Cabaret Voltaire, and even some COIL. My holiday playlist.
