  • Tangerine Dream - In Search of Hades

Wasn't sure where to put this, but felt that Recommended Listening was better than General Music chat, although as best as I can make out you can't even get hold of this thing yet.

I first heard this news this morning as I opened Chrome on my phone and there was an item in the "Articles for you" section which grabbed my attention.

I clicked on the link and it took me to a page on the Steven Wilson HQ site.

Having just got home after being out and about today, I thought I'd mention it here (I don't think anyone else has mentioned it yet).

But strangeness is afoot, I tells ya!

I went to the Steven Wilson website and couldn't find anything about this.

So I searched Google for "In Search of Hades" and there was indeed a link to SW's site, but when I clicked on it I got a 404 error.

These are the only links that seemed to reference this box set:-

    http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/ne...ngs-1973-1979/

    https://www.musictap.com/2019/04/13/...ngs-1973-1979/

    Further digging found this:-

    http://thezest-2010.blogspot.com/201...ades-news.html

And there is a line on that page that says,

ALL pre-orders delayed until this is official announced by Universal - possibly this Friday?
So perhaps Universal are having issues and SW, amongst others, have had to pull their pages.

I'll be keeping my peelers on this and I'll report back as soon as I hear anything more. Or if anyone else finds something out before me then please, post something here in reply.

    cheers

    andy

...and Tangerine Dream have a live album due for release 31/05/2019.

It features a concert at the Ford Auditorium in Detroit in '77 and another recorded in Sydney in 1982.

      Who is releasing that?

As an aside, I never thought of checking out the official TD website... Can't see anything there about the live album you refer to, Tim, and there is only a mention of the In Search of Hades in the forum.

I think it's on Esoteric Records, although it hasn't appeared on their website yet

Also available at other outlets, of course.

I think I will put it on my Christmas list...

Yeah, I've used them a couple of times myself, mainly for Richard Barbieri and PT stuff.

I've gone ahead and pre-ordered that In Search of Hades box set. Burning Shed appears to be one of the cheapest out there. I'll probably hand it over to the missus so she can wrap it up for Christmas... I am in no rush haha!

Looking forward to it, though, as it covers my most favourite period of TD. I already have some of those albums on CD (Rubycon and Phaedra) but the other stuff remains on vinyl, so it will be nice listening to it again, especially the previously unreleased stuff. And although I'm not a massive fan of the 5.1 mixes I find it is a good excuse to sit down, still, in one spot, and totally chill out, doing nothing else whatsoever.

I just ordered the live album. I saw TD frequently between '76 and '82, so it will be good to catch up with them again.
