There's also the Rocky Mountain National Park Sound Library (they have a crow recording): https://www.nps.gov/romo/learn/photo...undlibrary.htm

For a broader library of sounds from the NPS, go here https://www.nps.gov/subjects/sound/gallery.htm
You'll find sounds recorded across a number of different National Parks. Again, all public domain!

I loved those Wolf samples. Funnily enough, I was thinking of doing some mangling with them

I used recordings of wolves from this library for my track on the AO Luna album. I think there are some very nice quality recordings here.

i have used https://www.zapsplat.com/ recently, they have a good selection of sounds - they provide mp3 files free to use but ask that you credit them as source but if you pay a self determined fee you get wav files and no need to credit (although i will be doing that anyway - i think it's a good resource and should be shared)

Another outstanding source well worth a mention is freetousesounds.com..and although it's not free, they are currently offering a one-time $20 New Year deal, that gets you access to over 359 GBs of both RAW and Processed found sounds and expertly recorded field recordings. There are two different "packs" on offer, but at $20 it's madness not to grab both. The couple behind the site/service..Libby and Marcel..are constantly adding more sounds all the time and are active on Facebook.

All sounds are hosted online and you can download either one file / sample at a time..or download them all if you have the space and bandwidth to do so..it up to you,

Thanks for the links. Spent some time learning how to operate it. Not much going on at the moment. I search the spectrum later tonight to see if it gets any busier.

http://www.websdr.org/ is great for shortwave sample sources, copyright will vary depending on what's being recorded. http://k3fef.com:8901/ has hell listed, it's kind of bland any time i tune in. But if one clicks around, just a slight change in frequencies can really alter the sounds on some of this stuff, with bonus points during lightning storms.

re: archive.org I've used samples from Prelinger archives in the past too, the video sections can also be a trove.

    Thanks for those links.
Internet Archives is a true rabbit hole. I tried using the 'advanced search' and that worked out better when looking for particular things.
I ran across a gem of shortwave numbers broadcasts said to be from worlds intelligence agencies. Might make for a great source for a AO community project.
For more than 30 years the Shortwave radio spectrum has been used by the worlds intelligence agencies to transmit secret messages. These messages are...

Where at Internet Archive? It's a big place.
EDIT - Ok, I get it now. I can't audition without having to open into a new page. Anyway to audition on the same page?
I see the speaker icon, but it doesn't do anything if I click on it.

    Those tracks are not dloadable.
Are you intending on real-time recording the mp3 from your sound card?
I haven't yet auditioned the tracks, but they'd have to be pretty unique for me to grab and use mp3.
EDIT - I had a listen now and see they are intended as being used by others...I guess...but why didn't he make them dloadable as .wav files???

Great stuff there! Remember paying some insane amount of dollars for CDs Heart of Asia, Red Box Nature, etc back in the day. Now you can find similar quality (or sometimes better) recordings for free online. I assume everyone on this site is on freesound.org ?
