Hooked by a show called Imaginary Landscapes by Carl Stone in 1978 on KPFK radio I never stopped seeking ambient downtempo dark drone music. The music I listened to during the day is in stark contrast to the music I listen to in the evening. My friends look strangely at me when I play my evening music with them. The darker room with any light but white sets a stage for listening to all sorts of ambient music. I have a lots of music but lately I have found "favorites". It has taken a long time to be able to notice what I really feel stands out, unlike pop and rock music which is either hit or miss.
I use my ambient music for lots of things. I design sound effects for a theatre company in North Hollywood, California, USA. I create computer music with synthesizers and love mixing the music into perfectly warped soundscapes.

The name Zombie Joe comes from the theater group I have and continue to work for since 2001. Nine years ago I moved away from California. Now living in Salem, Massachusetts I still design their music and SFX, host their website, publish information about their new shows, and store everything they do for historical purposes. They produce 30 full-scale productions per year. Some horror driven but others are Shakespeare plays. I look forward to reading how other people are affected by ambient music. I continue to listen to "the blind flight" at Thank you Scott Lawlor! (AmbientOnline User: sklawlor)

Zombie Joe's Underground Theatre Group aka Z.J.U. was born in August of 1992 in a small industrial garage in Northridge, California. The Underground continues to push the limits of live progressive theater as a vital experimental art form in honor of the famous Antonin Artaud, Bertolt Brecht, Anton Chekhov, Ivan Turgenev, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and George Lucas.

Now located in the famous North Hollywood Theater District, aka 'The NoHo Arts District', ZJU Theater Group continues to amaze patrons by providing new original productions that run year-round, so there's always something fun n' wild to sink your teeth into! ZJU continues to win annual awards and has been deemed "Best of L.A. Theater company for the decade" by Steven Leigh Morris of LA Weekly.

Welcome, I'm new here myself. Wondering what prompted the move all the way across the country from one shore to another. Must be colder in Salem than in Hollywood right now. Anyways, glad you're here. Maybe you can tell me what you think of the WGN show "Salem" (soundtrack by Marilyn Manson)

          Divorce. Gained a son though!

Much colder! Today was a snow day. Worked from home.

WGN Salem sucked - nothing true... all hype. Marilyn Manson can make creepy music but so can Nox Arcana and Midnight Syndicate.

Got any real creepy horror music... I'm always listening for that.
