  • Hello from Chicago

Hello, My name's Mike, I make ambient music under the name Time Rival. I've been making music for about 15 years, mostly IDM under a different name, but I just decided to start another project that's strictly ambient. I love making it and I love listening to it, but my current fan base probably wouldn't appreciate 9 minute drone pieces...so here we are. I plan to have a pretty steady output under this name, so we'll see how things turn out. Check me out here if you're interested.

Hey there - I've just followed you on the ole SC. I'm in Nashville but am in Chicago a couple of times a year still.

      Welcome!

That could be a good move, I don't think many people pull off a wide range of music under one name. Maybe Aphex Twin but even then you get people (like, err... me ) who make playlists separating Drukqs into the piano pieces and the d&b etc tracks.

            Hi there!

I'm originally from Chicago too; most recently the Andersonville-Edgewater district. Whereabouts are you?

I moved out to the suburbs a couple years ago. I'm in the McHenry area now. I make it out to the city every week or two nowadays. It's much cheaper this way.

I can imagine! My last North Side Apt had passed 1K a month by the time I moved to England. I just followed you on Soundcloud also.

Welcome to Ambient Online. I've only changed planes in O'Hare...not sure that counts as being in Chicago ;)

If you grabbed a hot dog or slice of pizza at O'hare, then it counts

OK then! I always made a point to try to grab a Chicago Style hot dog from the little stand with the yellow canopy. Love those dogs :D
