I'm new in here too. Just read whisperinspace' intro post. I do play a little guitar but mostly I play my bass through a load of effects. Came across ambient guitar on YouTube a couple of years ago (Andy Othling et al) and grew to love it. Ended up thinking I could have a go at it and have a few videos up on Youtube now (link below). I'm in a bit of an ambient backwater in south Scotland, UK. Just get blank faces when I mention the word ambient.
I used to listen to a some Tangerine Dream and Jean Michel Jarre in the 80s and have always loved big reverbs and pad chords. The bass lends itself to that quite well.
I'm hoping to pick up even more tips and ideas here. Anyway here's the link to my YT channel.
