Spectral Rays for LinPlug's Spectral synth released on patchpool

I just released my second set for Spectral:





This second soundset by Simon Stockhausen for LinPlug's Spectral contains 100 patches focussing on very musical and expressive lead sounds, rich, dreamy, glassy, cold and lush pads, groovy and futuristic sequences, complex and ethereal soundscapes, electronic textures inspired by the world of science fiction and some dark and deep drone sounds from the core of the underworld.


All waveforms and filter shapes in this soundset are programmed from scratch, exploring new and exciting sonic territories. The Modwheel is assigned for most of the patches, many presets also use Aftertouch.

All demos below were produced entirely with Spectral using only patches from Spectral Rays, no post-processing was applied apart from a limiter on the outputs and some volume automation, if several instances of Spectral were used in a track. If a demo does use 3rd party FX, it will be mentioned in the track title.

I was just demoing Spectral this afternoon. Is it my imagination or is this thing really good? Completely under my radar, but it reminds of of early digital synths and I really like the way it's timbre's are (relatively) limited in scope compared to most soft-synths. Spectral sounds more like a fully realized instrument. I'm really liking the sterile/not-sterile, cold yet warm, utterly organic digital grungy lush this thing puts out.

And then I hear Simon's patches. WELL DONE UP THERE ^^

Thank.'s man! On the contrary, I would say Spectral is a synth with the least limitations timbrewise, I don't currently know of any other synth that can produce such a diverse variety of timbres, probably the factory library (which I never checked out) is misleading in that respect.

Yeah. I'm just going by the factory presets or whatever comes with the demo. They have a certain quality, but it's a quality that I really, really like. It just sounds... genuine? I'll have some more time to dig in over the weekend I hope.

Imo it's definitely the most interesting synth released in 2013, creating/drawing your own waveforms and filter shapes yields great results and the implementation of FM synthesis is very versatile, as the filter outputs can also be used as FM modulators. But I'll skip the techtalk
