  • Ascendant on Echoes

It's our great honor to be interviewed and featured on the legendary Echoes Radio program this Monday!

Ascendant is a duo of Californian musicians exploring the Big Bang, and other mysteries of the universe, through meticulously-crafted synthesizer soundscapes.

They live hundreds of miles apart, but don’t find that to be an obstacle, exchanging ideas and sound files over the internet. They’ve just released their second album Æthereal Code, which depicts the early organization of the universe with upbeat, melodic electronica. Don Tyler and Chris Bryant of Ascendant talk about their cosmic collaboration, on Echoes.

      I`ll be listening on wxpn.
Can you talk about the experience with us here, or are you
being held behind a wall of secrecy?
Did you meet up with Diliberto for the interview?

        Ah, very perceptive of you!

Yes, we're being jailed in a garden of thorns as I type this... :rotf: and no, we met up with his producer via Skype for the interview a few weeks back. Hopefully all turned out well...we shall see!

Cheers and thanks for the enthusiasm. :tu:

          I`m excited about it myself!
Glad to hear of it. Your works are surely worthy of this recognition.
Been listening to Diliberto here in Philly early on when he hosted 'Diaspar' and later on 'Starsend'.
Looking for a thread in here concerning your newest release...so far don`t see any. :(
So far, 'Beams' is my fave.

All went very well I thought. Should get a good hit on those record sales from that!

Listening to the 1st half hour of Echos brought to mind why I don`t listen to Echos.

Watching the Bandcamp "Selling Right Now" crawl for the past few hrs I expected to see some sales by now!
Damn, if this is an accurate reflection of sales, and after that big exposure on Echoes, with such a vast
country wide footprint! What the hell does it take then?

That's some serious dedication right there! :rotf: Appreciate the enthusiasm. This train has just left the station...we're rolling!

I`ve pegged you as being superficial and now apparently egocentric, but didn`t picture you responding with an insulting ROTFL emoticon.
I now hate to say it, again, but you`ve created a very good product with 'Source Transmission'. I`ve complimented the work often.
Since then i`ve been interested in how a good ambient product could be marketed and how well it could do.
I`m sorry to tell you that Ascendant specifically is NOT my center of interest. It makes for a good market/success model.

I hope so. I do want the best for electronic/ambient music in general.
If I saw Ascendant do well for example, that might give me incentive to work hard on a project myself.
I`m generally lazy, so I don`t work hard on any music production.
That`s my interest, watching the machine in motion.

I don't like to call out people in the open forum usually, and S1gns is a big enough person to defend himself --however this isn't the first such display.

But I do wish in addition to your informative and useful posts you could also find a method of communicating here in these forums that doesn't tend to default to negative and confrontational.

You don't have to like everyone and their work here, but you do need to get along. You have knowledge worth sharing and have contributed to a number of threads. Points of view are always welcome, but name calling isn't cutting it.

                        Thanks.

This one slipped by me. Did you just accuse me of being superficial and egocentric? That's your opinion, but I'm sorry you feel that way. I absolutely meant nothing but positivity by the "emoticon" I used. I was actually impressed by you following along, which has now faded thanks to your frankness.

aoVI's right though, I'm man enough to take it but the next time you call someone out like that, we'll be having a different conversation.

There is no need for that midnight. Bang out of order m8. I think its jealousy more than anything really. S1gns music is spot on especially how he keeps up with the podcasts. That's dedication within itself. I have been inspired so many times on here and that is really through just coming on here as I will get that lonely feeling from time to time. Like a virtual family really.

I have often just sat here and read the posts and listened to the members music and have always felt that being a great comfort and yeah I can post stuff to and not be judged or sniggered at for it. I have never been a very confident chap myself. But I have gained confidence from here a few times. How can something so little as that mean so much. It means a lot. Especially how everyone is always friendly to one another as well. That in itself is proper good m8. But to actually name call or at least that's what I am seeing. Well that's just totally uncalled for and very disrespectful.

Yeah, what Richy and aoVI said, that was totally uncalled for. Maybe you don't share S1gns sense of humour but what amounts to some friendly banter (that is appreciative of your efforts) is far from 'insulting'.
