Remember that just because all ambienteers (should) have beards does not mean all with beards are ambient.
Goatees are good. Heck, even S1gns' soul patch qualifies.
The reason behind this is at the very foundation of most ambient work, the drone.
Drones can build up and create bad phasing problems around the chin and neck. Beards, goatees, even a mustache can help diffuse this build up and make for better mixes.
It is important to wash your beard after mixing, as drones can become lodged in your beard, such as happened to this ambient artist, whose beard is now almost completely made up of drones:
aoVI is of course entitled to peddle his alternative facts but extensive scientific testing* has proven that the clean shaven chin allows greater diffusion of sound waves resulting in a more defined, less woolly drone.
(* my mate Paul with a doctorate in History agreed)

Facts and alternative facts are still facts - one should not trust them at all. In particular, if someone with an academic degree (*) is involved - such a person is obviously a part of the elite and the establishment.
Trust only those things, that you read on facebook or twitter, and only if the post has a long history: "I was told, that someone has heard..." is the least, that cou can expect. Direct eyewitnesses are normaly influeced by facts and are thus totally unreliable.
And don't trust aoVIs photos - with photoshop one can simply add a beard to anyone. Even to this well shaved guy:
(*) Hope, hat no one finds out, that I have a degree in geology, he, he, he, he, he..
A degree in geology?
That rocks!
:D
:highfive:
But finally I ended in the IT of an insurance company - taking care for the UNIX database servers (still, they are ging to be outsourced in Q1 this year), managing filetransfers to customers, maintaining our batch job scheduling system and the servers (software, no things that can be kicked - PC hardware is a different team) for our main application.
But when I look at a landscape or a rock, I still look at it with geologist's eyes.
