  • Not ambient at all but...enjoying a You Tube vid of a Herbie Hancock Headhunters full concert from 1974. This is pretty much the music I was into at the time.

I know what you mean, certainly cleaner and not as "90s forum" as the old AO.
Latest release: never to be repeated

The aoVI side of things tends to be more traditionally organized songs than ambient pieces, and I am really trying to have something solid--a good album from start to finish. No fillers or forgettable tracks.

I have been working on this project on and off since 2012 and haven't released anything under aoVI since 2008's somewhat pieced together and maybe more ambient than it ought to be album, Syntegration.
What I love about this is the recognition that some of it isn't quite right and you are self editing. So many people haven't learned to self edit.

The flip side is some of the pieces I've written that others have loved so much - I would have shelved and archived... except my wife or a friend pushed me that it was good.

          Hahahahahaaa. Yeah.

I'm eating Oatmeal, Drinking Coffee, listening to a berlin / detroit dub techno album (the dub is rather in the background on this though - they probably could have left it out of the title...)

And preparing for our weekly "what the hell is everyone doing this week" meeting with the IT dept.

I'm watching Michael Hedges. Andreas Vollenweider.. Even Kraftwerk.

I think it's time to shed my skin and change it up! Ambient guitar and keys, anyone?
Saw Michael Hedges at Kent State University. He was a brilliant showman and innovator. Sad, he died in a car accident years ago.

Excellent, I'd be keen to thread those bagpipes into the 'top secret project' somehow!

                • Reflecting on how I can never make decent poached eggs, they either break on the way in or the water isn't hot enough or there is too much vinegar or not enough vinegar or they crash and burn on the way out of the saucepan. I just want to eat a truly top poached egg on avocado toast, made by me. :eggsanyone: I appreciate that this Smilie is frying an egg and not poaching one but close enough!

                    Thanks

There are some folks who seem to be able to produce a large volume of works, and most of it really good. I'm not one of those; I create nearly every day, and have an HD full of unfinished or unrealized pieces.

I figure I am average, so I'd better hold off until I am sure it's worth listening to. I don't want potential listeners to have to search through scores of mediocre for the good tracks.

I also would be okay with taking 10 years to release one thing fairly memorable than a dozen albums of disposable material during that same time period.

I always pretend it is someone else's work and think; if it wasn't me making this noise, would I care about it? Usually the answer is not really, but eventually you have to finish something so people remember that you actually do things. ;)

                      • Just ordered a floor stand for my Vortex, and a fancy strap. I worn instrument isn't playable without a fancy strap...

Poking around YouTube for unusual instrument combinations. Fun times!

Have you tried putting the uncracked eggs in the pan or jug of ( just boiled) water for a min? Warms them up enough to set really quick, so they don't spread when you crack them I to the water. You get nice solid eggs with some thickness to them. It's my fav breakfast is poached egg on toast.
