I haven't listened to any Wire for a couple of years, but on a whim put on Send for the commute home yesterday.
    Ooh, spooky.

I don't think they played anything from Send, I only recognised about five tracks (Three Girl Rhumba, Ahead, Drill, Short Elevated Period from the last record...) I get the impression a lot of it was being played live for the first time, I don't normally like gigs like this ("play the hits! outdoor miner!" ;)) but it all sounded great and... vital I guess.

    But, yeah, not very ambient.
Latest release: never to be repeated

    • I certainly was late to the Wire bandwagon, a friend was excited about the release of Send as it had been a few years and mentioned it--I hadn't heard anything from them before then, checked it out and liked it.

I've lived in Alabama since 1979 (turned 16 that year for context), I was fortunate to come across the few less-well-known artists and acts that I did through my formative years.

God-love-me, it was 1983 before I ever heard Velvet Underground, '86 for Bauhaus.

am avoiding Liverpool today - they have closed the city centre to have some sort of mechanical giants walking around the city. being a grumpy person who hates crowds i think it's a bag of shite, as they say round here

              • Coding. I have been working on several projects but most of my time is spent on a VST Arpeggiator (Sorry Windows Only). I have been using it in the One Sample Dare challenges to create scale and chord patterns. I really have been working on and off for the last 5 years, mostly off, but I didn't focus on it till last May. I am also working on a Granular Synth

Pyramid learning curve ... Can be a simple as you want it to be ..... or go deep into the darkest pits of chord and rhythm construction.

Not for sale, but maybe someday next decade. Still a lot of work to do.

                • I replaced all of the pipes in the pond yesterday after 3 or 4 years of use. I immediately achieved more that 100% increase in water flow, so that was very worthwhile. The pump is almost 10 years old now and is still functioning very well.

                  • Listening to Jack Benny's Golden Memories of Radio via archive.org. In my early teens I listened to this on a vinyl box set that my parents purchased from Longines Symphonette. I still have it in a box somewhere along with a couple more of the L.S. box sets - classical music those.

Another notable thing - I am listening on my 2009 MacBook Pro. The night before last, it seemed I wouldn't be using this system for a while, as the 'MagSafe' power supply cord had failed at the usual designed-in early failure point - the junction where the low voltage cord enters the power supply housing. This is the 3rd such failure of a MagSafe PS we have suffered. Fortunately, I found a YouTube video that showed how to actually open the case of the PS. So I was able to repair the doggone thing in lieu of spending ~$80 US for a new unit!!! Regardless of the other complaints I have had with various Windows PC's over the years, not a one of them has such a flimsily constructed power supply cable. Boo, Hiss on Apple!

                    • Currently in bed listening to the pre release tracks on the Moon compilation... Very nice

Earlier today we started undecorating the front room.

There is only one thing I hate more than undecorating and that's decorating...

synkrotron I've had that problem before, I went to the doctor twice in the last couple of years to have them flush the wax out of my ears. Not fun while they're doing it, but I could hear so much better afterward.
