        Yes, sure I can

I do not want to sell my music. I set the cost of my music to "free" but in order to make my song live I have to give details of how I am to be paid.

That is where I back out and forget Baboom

Hmmph.. my last album made beer money and some left for pizza, but I think my music is too niche-y to draw much paying streaming traffic, especially since I have a ton of my stuff on SoundCloud for free already.. a little extra cash would be nice, though.

I think I'll give it a try and report back on my experience..

I'll pull a few tracks off Soundclod and move them over, set things up, over the weekend.

I'll take one for the team this time... :fence:

                    FIRST INFO DROP!

I just finished doing basic setup for my free artists page. It was super-simple and it comes with tools to connect to your Facebook and Twitter accounts (which I only use for my music project). There's more work to do - I need a cover image, which I'll crank out this weekend.. but it took about 15 minutes to do.

So far I give it an A for artist-friendly setup. I give it a C for themes as so far I can't find any, but that just might be my ignorance.

Going "Pro" is AUS$10 a month, which comes out to slightly over US$7.02 right now. No worse than Soundcloud or Bandcamp.

I'm at the office so I can't do a whole lot else from here. Tonight I'll see about uploading "Rotatron" to BaBoom. :listening:

Argh, didn't get the trak uploaded! Just slipped my mind (Ok, I was playing a real-time strategy game).

This weekend at the top of my to-do list is going to be loading my album "Thrown Against The Sky" to Baboom. It's a huge pile of music, so we'll see how well the upload process goes.

                      Wish me luck...

Oh, almost forgot.. they only take MP3 and FLAC, wich means I need to comvert the whole affair to FLAC. Ugh.

Ok, left work early because I'm running a 24-hour burn-in test on a new main board and the computer can't be used while it's running..

I uploaded Rotatron to Baboom, and it's a pretty simple process. You go to your Music tabs, create a "new release", fill in a form, upload tune and art, and hit "Publish". Pretty similar to Soundcloud.

So far, no complaints. We'll see what happens this weekend when I REALLY hit it with an entire album!

Never heard of it. Looks snazzy enough. I'll take a peek at the T&C's and give maybe give it a go. Will report back any findings as well.

A little strange that they don't accept WAV formats. I still consider that to be the de facto audio standard.

I went and signed up, filled in some profile deets, tossed a free single up there, gave it about 30 minutes of use.
Here's my initial impressions (at least the things that stood out):

                              * Visually, very appealing (small exception noted later on).

                              * Pretty easy to use. I was able to sign up and start filling in stuff straight away. Everything seem to work well.

                              * One nice touch was in the title background colors, which seem to sample from dominant cover image color. Kind of a unique, subtle touch.

                              * Cool tumblr-esque/pinteresty streams for content. I poked around a bit and found/followed some artists. I'm streaming something from there right now.

                              * I couldn't figure out how to set a custom/vanity artist URL. Everyone seems to be baboom.com/artists/uuid (e.g. my page is: https://baboom.com/artists/60ae7f69-...8-c4d2a1f7404d)

                              * Clear distinction between artist/fan accounts. simple enough to set up (although until you set up your fan account, your artist page administrator's name is "baboom")

                              * "Go pro" is a little in your face everywhere you go. Some "backend" (artist dashboard) links dead-end at a "Go Pro to get this feature".

                              * Following is kind of like SoundCloud, except that it seems you can only see who artists follow via their stream, and a count of who follows them, but no list of followers I could find (perhaps that's a good thing?).

                              * Populated artist pages seem a little crowded with content. This could just be the size I keep my windows at, as I notice the layout is responsive and collapses away content as the viewing area shrinks. I tend to get overwhelmed when displayed a lot of stuff at once, so totally a preference thing. I just like a bit of empty space on pages (my profile has some left since I've only uploaded one song ;P).

                              * The terms and conditions seem pretty straightforward. I gave a quick read through them as I signed up, and there didn't seem to be any weird "we own your kidneys" type stuff in there. Everything seemed legit to a non-lawyer like myself.

On the whole, I think the site has a pretty good feel, so I'll definitely pop back in and upload some more tracks. If anything goes awful as time advances, I'll drop back in and update!
