  • Anybody here use Reaktor? :D

    I use Reaktor a lot to make most of my musical pieces, but I have yet to meet anyone else who does... ;~;
    Is there anyone here who primarily uses Reaktor as their go-to synth of choice in soundscapes? or am I alone.

    I personally think it's an absolutely fantastic choice for synthesis because not only does it come with a load of great synths, but it's also used to create your own, which as a soundscape artist I find absolutely amazing! :D

    I wouldn't say it's one of the primary things used, but it does get used frequently.

    When I first got it, I went and spent a while downloading a bunch of the user-created stuff on the NI site, and now there is a giant folder full of stuff that is sort of hard to dig through. If I have no idea where I want to go, Reaktor is a great thing to open up and see what I stumble across. There are some great things available for it to be sure.

      I have a collection of selected Reaktor ensembles, which I use quite frequently.

        I have Reaktor, but haven't used it for any music yet. I do enjoy playing with it.

          I probably use Reaktor on every piece I make, usually one of the Bosomac ensembles (so good for ambient, Floodverb, Stellar etc...) Plenty of ambient noise generators in the user library too.

          Only tokenly tried to make anything with it but have big ideas. One day.

            I picked up Reaktor during NI's summer sale for $99, always been meaning to get to it as I love modular environments (I still think Jeskola Buzz is my favorite 'DAW' ever), but have mostly been using Razor (and Prism) when actually at a computer (Razor is good for so much more than the ubiquitous dubstep lol).

            But my Octatrack is being shipped off for repair, so I may have to dig into Reaktor more and see what's what
            Meh.

              @GaryG do you ever make your own ensembles?

                I've literally played around with existing ones, trying to get a feel for how they hang together etc. Sum total of my experiments so far is a very predictable VA (osc > filter > vca... )

                I used to use Synthmaker a fair bit, built a few noise devices for my own entertainment but got a bit disillusioned with it's timing when trying to do anything serious (algorithmic music generators etc). Have a plan to try again in Reaktor, looks like a lot of the ground work has already been done.

                http://www.reaktortips.com/ - this is a neat site, sells some cool ensembles but also very useful tutorials too.

                  Yeah I've been working to make my own Reaktor ensembles for a while now, but there are some issues regarding drone synthesizers and the like.

                    What are these issues you speak of? Curious minds would like to know. ;)

                      I use Reaktor a lot, but haven't built any of my own ensembles yet. I have some ideas, but just don't get the time to play around with them.

                        I've tried to build my own ensembles but aside from basic stuff it ain't easy. Found it better to use the Modular collections like Ampere and ModularX.

                          more often than not I'll work within my own little niche to try and develope something for the sake of building and modifying your own various textures. Sometimes you can resample your own synthetic works but I find it more appropriate to install the correct tools and just work within your own oscillators. You learn a lot easier that way.

                          Here's something rather simple. (sorry about the effects I'm still rather messy with this)

                          boy I just don't know how to make these images larger. ;~;
