  • Kairatune - Free synth for Mac/Windows 32/64

I discovered this on KVR today. Kairatune by Futucraft.

I'm in love with the UI, the amp eg's attack has a nice pleasant swell to it (and ten seconds max), and the phaser/delay effects are pretty nice. And so much is syncable (and can be turned off, then it uses time).

A few issues here and there, like I can't assign controls to Live device parameters and touching the UI steals focus so I can't play and tweak, but this is a high quality freebie imo.

It's a monosynth and should be treated as such. Ie, set up a long Release and play another note, and the Attack picks up where the amplitude is currently. Some may find that limiting, I plan to toss it into a Drum Rack or something.

    Nice!

Thanks for pointing this out. Haven't heard of it before so I just downloaded it and gave it a test run...pretty FAT sounding synth! Nice selection of presets too...like, for FREE? Seriously? Awesome stuff.

As you know I also use Live 9 and I was able to get MIDI remote control to work on the UI just fine. Maybe it's because I'm still running Live 32 bit... I dunno. I just clicked MIDI Map Mode on, clicked on the UI somewhere, and then moved a fader or whatever on my controller and presto. Play and tweak. Maybe we're talking about two different functions?

Anyway, thanks again! Off to go mess around some more with it...for free, WOW! Still can't get over it.

    Cheers,

We're talking about two different things. The configure button lights up green, and opens the UI. You're supposed to be able to click on controls of the plugin and they appear as little controls that you can map to Macro knobs in a Rack. but this isn't working with Kairatune. Here are two pics, the first is Kairatune having failed to have its controls in Live's device for it. The second is kHS ONE in an Instrument Rack, with some random controls plugged into the Live Device (which is what is supposed to happen when you click 'configure' and then start clicking parameters on the plugin UI) as well as those controls mapped to macro knobs 1-4. On my MacBook Air I don't have a controller hooked up so I play notes with the computer keyboard. I haven't tried it with Push, yet.

Tip: if you click the menu and tell it to remove all patches it'll give you the Init patch. Also, right click a preset and you can select "new".

Heard from the dev on KVR, my issue is a bug with the VST version and he's on top of it. AU works fine.

Yeh its a good site that m8, can get a lot of cool stuff on there for free, especially for those looking to experiment with something a little different, but nice 1 for the link on the tutorial videos. But just as I entered bpb well an advert popped up mentioning about Presonus Studio One now being free to. Am gona give that one a whirl, its always refreshing using something new.

It is good isn't, Tomislav is definitely one of the good guys.

More importantly, where's this free Studio One link?! I refreshed the page a couple of times but didn't see it. There is a free version already though rather limited (no VST support...)

In case anyone is interested: Skins for U-He synths

DIVA, Tyrell N6, Zebra, even ACE and some Uhbik skins.

                  Unfortunately Firebird is Windows-only.

I really gotta use the racks more often though...just setting this up to test it out made me realize how amazing they are. And they're built in to Live!

                      Cheers,
