  • Tips for mac users!

    Hey!

I found this freeware pack filled with AUs. I've tried it a little bit, and it hold some really cool features. I like the drone maker, super filterbank (makes anything sound like a synth :O) the granular and the gate and hold stuff.

Made this track using the super filterbank and a sample with lots of delay: https://soundcloud.com/fcknoise/logic

Oh yeah...the Michael Norris pack. One of the best free lots out there! I use Spectral Dronemaker all the time. :tu:

Thanks for posting the link. Us Mac users might be in the minority around these parts (by a slim margin...although I haven't put a poll out) but these are definitely worth a look for anybody on Mac making ambient.

    Cheers,

      That's a nice track!

The Sound Magic plug-in's really are indispensable for the ambient musician working on a Mac. I use the Spectral Dronemaker and Spectral Emergence a lot, usually on a sound that I stretched with Paulstretch. It's also well worth reading the manual that Michael Norris wrote. It's a little on the techie side, but very informative.

Paulstretch effect comes with Audacity. Audacity is free also, and is a very full featured audio editor. You can record directly into Audacity as well.
Only dead fish go with the flow.

Hey man, thanks for the link! It really does get a bit difficult sometimes to search for Mac compatible VSTs but AUs will do awesomely!

Thank you! Oh, I'll check out audacity as well. I've always seen audacity as kind of a raw DAW, without any bells and whistles. I guess I was wrong!

The sound magic suite by Michael Norris is awesome!
i love dronemaker and spectral partial glide, but all of the suite is great to use, very easy to make your speakers freak if you are not careful!
